How about a thread related to all things food and flair.

Anything goes…

(1) Delicious foods from Disney snack carts to tea time at the Grand Floridian.

(2) Food you or your loved one prepared while camping at The Fort.

(3) Food from your campsite beyond The Fort.

(4) All food & drinks from restaurants around the nation and beyond.

(5) Food you make at home from a random recipe you found online to granny’s favorite peach cobbler recipe that she gave to you, but not your other siblings because she’s 90 and manipulation is her new favorite game. Kidding. That’s probably just my grandma.

(6) Foods you grow.

(7) Cakes you bake or purchase.

(9) Drinks of all kinds.

(10) Copycat recipes related to Disney.

So pretty much anything food & drink related.

Feel free to add new categories and give points accordingly. Points are completely randomly assigned. Anyone can gift points or take points away. In the end, it doesn’t really matter who has the most points because they have no real cash value. 😂

We woke at 3:30 am on vacation to watch the sunrise from the summit at Haleakala National Park, and then found this beautiful little restaurant tucked quietly between the lush greenery.

It was the best breakfast spot I’ve ever had the privilege of visiting, and I can’t wait to eat there again next winter.

Hawaiian banana chip pancakes were the cat’s meow! I don’t know if that is a saying anywhere other than my home, but those are my choice adjectives here. lol.

Home grown…

I spend several weeks of each June stained by berries head to toe. I grow enough to freeze and preserve until the following season.

This one time my son asked if we could hire a professional berry picker…Buddy, you are the professional berry picker! Everyone helps. Each child has a daily bucket or two to fill with the volume based on age. It’s how it was done in the old times and that is how it’s done here, too.

Wow, Melissa.

The chocolate Graham crackers look amazing and I'm a sucker for a good lasagna. You are only a couple of hours from me. Let me know the next time they are on the menu.

I won't have too much to contribute to this topic. I know how to cook. I'm not bad at it. I just don't like to.

We lost our best hired man last week. He left for job with benefits. We’ve got a spot open…
You wanna come bale this July? I spend that month cooking to the nines morning, noon, and evening keeping the crew going. I cry a little once it’s all said and done. lol. Once the bale count got to insanity level, that’s when I began demanding August trips. Ha!

It all works out.

Let’s us know when you’re in the area.

Ah homemade graham crackers are the best! I love it when my wife makes them though she has never done a chocolate variety.

I'll start with a camping favorite. For those who didn't see my posts elsewhere I'm a bit dutch oven cooking fan. My newish favorite quicker dutch oven creation is mac and cheese. You can load it with a protein and make it a one pot meal or make it a side. It's extra good with green chiles. You steam the pasta first in the dutch oven and we have dehydrated green chile flakes we made from the hatch chile roast our local grocery store does each year. Hydrating them in the water while steaming the pasta adds some nice flavor.

In the food from afar category (with a Disney connection) we did the Barcelona to Southhampton DCL repositioning cruise last summer. The tapas in Barcelona were incredible. These were from a bar in the gothic quarter called Bar Mono (Monkey).

We also had like 24 hours in Paris and I ate at the bakery next to our hotel like 4 times in 24 hours. I still dream about the raspberry croissants. They actually taste as good as they look and have real fruit in them.

I'm jealous of your berries! We've not had good luck growing berries. I have lots of childhood memories of being taken to u pick berry farms as a kid. One of the perks of growing up in the pacific northwest. Unfortunately now we don't live in the right climate for them. My wife has gotten in on some group orders for strawberry flats a few times so we could make jam but its not the same.

The pasta looks good.

I’m still thinking about your cast iron tables…I’ll have to get one of those.

The only difference between regular grams & chocolate grams is the cocoa I add at the end. I’ll make a double batch and then divide.

Jim is heading to Paris this summer. Perhaps he’ll take note of your bakery.

I’ve made homemade pop tarts a few times using our strawberries. I try to make as many everyday recipes utilizing them as I can. Jam, pies, cakes, or simply a frozen bag set out in the afternoon for a healthy side of organic fruits packed with antioxidants for dinnertime.

I try to not use sugar. If I do, I use a little as possible. Instead, I substitute with raw honey.

Strawberries are one of the easiest things to grow in a garden, in my opinion. The key is timing. Box stores sells mature plants too late. You want bare-root & planted early springtime. I’m not sure your garden zone, but mine is 6a and I’ll be planting a few hundred more here next week. So if your wife wants to try again, I recommend Indian Berry Company to purchase bare root plants with the earliest shipping date your garden zone allows.

I was just in Barcelona in October and stayed in the Gothic Quarter. Didn't stop by Bar Mono though. There are so many great places to grab something there.

Where did you stay? It seems like there is a bakery on every other corner. We got hooked on pain au chocolate when we were there 3 years ago. I purposely stay on the French side of St. Martin for the French bakeries. I've tried to find good ones here, but haven't found anything close. We will be staying in the 15th ar., right on the border of the 5th, south of the Eiffel Tower, right on the Seine. (the heart at the bottom.)

I know there are a couple of good places right there. We also went to the original Laduree, near the Ritz, where the macaron was created. The just made ones are incredible.

We stayed in the Marriott Courtyard at Gare du Lyon. That was our train station for heading to Barcelona so good location and I had points for the stay, would stay there again. The bakery was right around the corner like 2 doors down. However we also stopped by a bakery walking from Notre Dame to the metro station to head back that was also good. I think the majority of bakeries in Paris are good especially compared to here.😂

One other recommendation which will sound strange. Maybe the best burger I’ve had was in Paris at The Kitchen. Friendly service, good food, fairly quick/casual but not fast food. It was over by Champ De Elyse’s (that famous road with all the high end stores). We walked there from the Eiffel Tower, not a short walk but doable so it’s kind of near where you are staying.
