All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

hi guys,

I'm considering a trip the second week of January and I found a great rate for ASMU (at least I think so...3 nights w 4 day park hopper for $645...is that good?) I've never booked a disney trip myself and I've also never stayed at a value. My mom has always paid so its been moderates and deluxe and villas for me in the past. But I'd be going in January by myself...will I be okay at ASMU?
Ladies, do you feel safe when you're there walking alone? Would it be weird for me to be at the pool by myself?
Please sell me on ASMU! It seems like the nicest of the values and of course I'd always rather be in Disney!
Thanks dears!
xoxo

We have stayed at ASMu many times, and although I have never stayed there alone, I have explored the resort alone at night many times. It is my absolute favorite and I would feel very comfortable there alone, if I ever take a solo trip.

IMHO, ASMu is the nicest of the values. After the upgrade a couple of years ago, we found the decor to be great and the beds so very comfortable. I also think the CMs there are the friendliest!

I also love the pools and the lush landscaping at ASMu. In my opinion, you have made a great choice! Have an awesome trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for all your help! The price was for a package plus I have AAA so I can apply that discount hopefully. I think I made a good choice but I'm a little worried about the busses.

the buses were fine when we were there in sept. The kids always got a seat. I think I stood 1 time and DH 2 or 3 times at night. The only complaints I had were with the buses to and from animal kingdom. Long waits and had to stand.

Hi Everyone! I thought I would cut and paste a part of my Trip Report here that has to do with my stay at All Star Music September 30 to October 4 2009.

Rock Inn building 3. I don’t think I could have gotten closer without paying for preferred.

My room was super clean and wicked quiet. All you hear is toilets....and I had 2 toddlers next door to my room, not a peep! I'm glad I stayed at a value solo....now I know it's not big enough for my family. It was fine for me....I do prefer Pop over Music....better food court and bar at Pop. But ASMu was fine...I really had no complaints at all.

Bus Stop.

The activities schedule. I must say that I was impressed with this for a value resort….I don’t remember them doing any of this at CBR last year.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Thank You for his thread! I am staying here Dec. 4th - 7th and am very excited! It will be my first time staying here and my first trip with my son (18 months now - 20 months at trip). :yay:

My family and I will be at the ALMu from Dec. 1 to Dec 9th. I can't wait. My sons still don't know. We are trying very hard to keep it a secret!

This is an awesome thread!

Maybe :) I think we are going to request the Jazz Inn. I haven't finalized anything yet. A friend of ours is staying at the All Star Sports for the first half of our trip and we were both trying to find the buildings that would be the closest for both of us.

HI :yay:

We are staying in a family suite Jan 29 - Feb 4. I know that means we will be in Calypso or Jazz. Is it possible to see the movie from either of those buildings? I would love to be able to put out LOs to bed and then sit outside the room and watch the movie. Also does anyone know what time the movies are shown in Jan/Feb?

TIA!

Hi. You would want to request Calypso 1 or Jazz 2.

Have you seen the All-Star Maps? Click this link and you'll be able to see which buildings are closest to each other.

Sports: http://willcad.org/maps/wdw/resorts/resort_assp.jpg

Looks like Buildings 8 and 9 in Sports are the closest to Music 1 and 2. Have Fun!

Thanks Sharadoc! that was very helpful. I was reading about privacy curtains. They seem to be in the Jazz Inn. Would you know if they are in the Rock section?

You can't see the movie from the rooms/buildings. They show the movie on a blow up screen close to the main pool (on the food court end).

My room in Rock Inn did not have a curtain.

I didn't make any special requests so I am not sure where I will be. :confused3

When we stayed at Movies there was a channel that played the same 10 or 12 cartoons over and over again. We loved having it. We sorta fell asleep watching them each night and it was a nice way for our young daughter to unwind. We didn't have this channel at either Sports, or Pop. Does it run at Music? Someone that just got back from Movies said that they still have it and that it might be channel 98?

Just curious. Thanks!

We're traveling with a group so we have three rooms booked under three different ressie numbers. I would like to put in our requests a couple of weeks in advance so we can do online checkin and still get what we want! I feel better writing out all the requests and faxing them in. Can I do that and do they actually read them and pay attention? And what would their fax number be?

Great thread!

I'm trying to decide between ASMo and ASMu. Can anyone tell me any differences? :confused3

We were in WDW 2 weeks ago and I THINK I saw a separate bus stop for ASMo at MK. Did I see incorrectly? :confused3 Does it make a difference?

I have previously been an AS snob because of Bus Service I've read about, but recent reports say that bus service is pretty much the same that I get at a mod! All we need is a bathroom and beds! I don't care where! ANYWHERE in WDW is better than home! :woohoo:

Thanks!!
