All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

We're traveling with a group so we have three rooms booked under three different ressie numbers. I would like to put in our requests a couple of weeks in advance so we can do online checkin and still get what we want! I feel better writing out all the requests and faxing them in. Can I do that and do they actually read them and pay attention? And what would their fax number be?

I usually fax my request but I don't know if they read them. :goodvibes I usually get what I ask for though. The fax number is 407-939-7222. Best of luck to you.

Great thread!

I'm trying to decide between ASMo and ASMu. Can anyone tell me any differences? :confused3

We were in WDW 2 weeks ago and I THINK I saw a separate bus stop for ASMo at MK. Did I see incorrectly? :confused3 Does it make a difference?

I have previously been an AS snob because of Bus Service I've read about, but recent reports say that bus service is pretty much the same that I get at a mod! All we need is a bathroom and beds! I don't care where! ANYWHERE in WDW is better than home! :woohoo:

Thanks!!

All Star Movies, Music, and Sports each have separate bus stops at all of the parks. It's only on the way to the park that you would possibly share a bus with the other All Stars. On the way back, each has their own. :)

Well, we stayed 2 weeks in August and the only time we would hit more than one resort was if the bus was empty. I never once saw ASMo as the buses run ASSp, ASMu, ASMovie. Music was wonderful, the dj comes out every afternoon and there are fun games for the kids and adults, some with prizes. Everynight they had a movie at 9:00pm by the pool. The theming may be better at ASMo for kids but the activities by the pool totally made up for it. My only complaint has to be the food court. It was definately smaller than Pop or the moderates. But, other than an occasional meal we really did not use it. We always ate in the parks and for the couple of times we did eat in the food court, we just dealt with it. We had a wonderful time and my DH said his favorate stays were at Pop and ASMu. We have also stayed at POR and CSR. He likes the buses best at the values.

Music has a more relaxed atmosphere, more lush landscaping, newly renovated rooms but the set up at Music is more straight back from the food court/bus stop so if you had the most remote room at music it could be a longer walk than you might have at movies.

Movies has a really cool theme but the rooms haven't been renovated in a while.

I've stayed at POR and ASMu. While the themeing was nicer at POR (IMHO) I didn't notice a difference in bussing. Word of warning though... those far buildings (country fair) are far. A pleasant stroll in the morning is a long walk after a day in the parks! :lmao:

I just put a room on hold at Music but I am nervous! I've never stayed at a value and don't know much about them. It's only going to be a quick trip (2 or 3 nights) for marathon weekend so we won't be spending a ton of time at the resort. But what should I know about it? I started looking through this thread but didn't see what building to request or a map. It's not a preferred room and we don't care about being close to anything but the bus stop.

So - what can you tell me to get me excited about our trip??!! :cool1:

We stayed at ASMU 4 weeks ago and in Sept.2008. In 2008 we were in the Broadway Building #8. It was very nice, near the piano pool. I timed my walk to the main building and it took my short legs 7minutes. I did request Jazz, but didn't get it. When we re-booked for 2009, we asked for a perferred room and paid the extra for it. I requested Building 10- poolside. When we arrived we had a choice of building 10 backside (parking lot) or Building 1 poolside. We chose Building 1, poolside. This room on the 3rd floor had a king bed and connecting door to the next room. I also think it may have been a handicap room because the bathroom door was a sliding in the wall door and the toilet was higher. I liked the fact that I could see all the fun at the pool. I didn't think it was loud like some thought. The only problem we had, was that they were painting the colorful Calypso entrance and we had to walk around the building to get to the pool. I hope they are done by now. The buses were good, the food was good and the cast members in the food court danced during slow times with the children. A very fun place.

So the cribs at ASMU are pack and play's? Are they standard size so we could bring our sheet with us? Also, is there a charge for the crib? TIA!

We went to ASMu over Spring Break and stayed in the Family Suite (Jazz Bldg). We were incredibly impressed. It was not a bad walk to the main building and bus stop at all. We were close enough to the pool to run down but far enough away that the music didn't bother us. The movies over spring break were at dusk so around 7 or 8? popcorn::We really didn't see them b/c we were out at the parks till closing most nights. We really only ate in the food court once or twice, but the offerings were much better than we were expecting (lots of options/choices)....

Loved the landscaping - lots of trees and greenery. Calypso pool is where all the action is at. The Piano pool is much quieter.

We're thinking of heading down next Dec with friends and we're definitely considering ASMu again after such a positive experience.

There is no charge. And they are standard Pack n Plays so you could bring a sheet. They come with their own bedding.

In this photo the sheet & white blanket are what come with it. The pillow was just thrown in there so you could see the size of the crib, the baby didn't sleep with it in there. And the checked blanket is what I brought from home. I never did use my own sheet because their bedding was fine.

Here's a map...

I think that Calypso buildings 1 and 10 are preferred, so if you want to be close to the front (bus stop and food court) and do not want to pay preferred, request Jazz buildings 2 or 9.

Hi everyone. Just a reminder that we have a FREE Fridge and Coffee Pot Swap at the All Star Music (or Sports and Movies).

Ok, back to your regular programming. :)

Hi there!

My family booked bounceback for the end of September 2010. Currently, we're booked at Pop (again), have stayed there the past 3 years and the only resort we have ever been to. We love Pop, however we think the girls and us would love to try something new next year. We're considering AsMu
because of all the fun activities at the main pool that I think the kids would really love!

Do you think we would enjoy our stay here after staying at Pop so many times? How are the buses? We always had awesome bus service at Pop, never waited more than a few minutes for a bus. I'm a little worried because the All stars share a bus, correct? Thinking maybe we should book preferred? We would like to be fairly close to the foodcourt/bus stops.

Any thought would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!:goodvibes

My family has stayed at both Pop and ASMu. I will say that the food court is better at Pop, along with the gift shop but the bussing was no problem at all. The only time the buses shared was when they were empty. Usually they were full so it was never an issue. The worst bussing was at Downtown Disney. They terribly overloaded the buses and made two DTD stops.

We stayed in the Jazz section which was nice and close to all. We had a wonderful time and DH said he preferred it there to CSR. I don't know if I agree but I think the savings in his pocket helped make that decision. You will love the activities by the pool. Don't worry about the buses.

Thanks for the re-assurance about the bus stops! It's nice to hear from someone who's been at both resorts :) My two daughters love going to the pool, that's my main reason for wanting to switch and the games and activities sound like a lot of fun! I looked at a map and Jazz looks like a good location. We'll either request that section or pay for preferred to stay in Calypso. Thanks again!

No problem at all. You will have fun with the pool. The only complaint I got this year was that we had too much stuff scheduled and not enough time to relax at the hotel and play pool games.:headache:
