All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

We will be at the Music from November 29th-December 13th.

Our window and door will be fully decorated and hard to miss.

Come to think of it I am usually hard to miss too. Watch for the lime green Slightly Goofy shirts, Focker lanyard, LGM and great big grin. Especially when someone walks up, seeing all that, and says "Maybe" you are a DISer?:rotfl:

Slightly Goofy

choirchic, if you think that is bad you should see what happens when an innocent guest comes up and asks what all the stuff on my shirt means. I have converted many a civilian to the DIS boards. Do they give out a reward? Where do I apply? I can only sell what I believe in though. Great place, great people.

Do you by chance have openings, in December? The 16th-22nd, to be exact.

I'm sorry, those dates are full.

Hey! Us too!

Us three!

How would the Fridge Swap work - I've never done that.

You can click on the link in my signature and read thru page 1 to get an idea of how the swaps work.

I would just need it August 16-18

I'm sorry, but those dates were filled in this morning...I didn't have time to update until now.

DIS'er Lam712 and cade&blakesmomma are also running All Star fridge swaps over on the Budget Boards. You can send them a PM or post to their threads to inquire about your dates.

It looks like we might be staying at ASMu for a quick trip (Friday through Sunday) in October, in the family suites. Do they have those in every one of the buildings? If so, which building would you recommend? We're traveling with my parents so we would prefer something relatively quiet and not too far from the bus stop.

Thanks!

For anyone heading to ASMusic(or any All Stars Resorts) please take a look at the "Pay It Forward Swap" located in my signature.

It should be lots of fun!!

The suites are in the Jazz and Calypso buildings (considered the "preferred" ones). I've been told by a hotel worker that they all face the inside of the resort (i.e. none face the parking lots).

In 10 days we'll be arriving for our first trip staying in the AS Music Family Suites. They are only in the two "preferred" sections (i.e. Calypso and Jazz Inn). The preferred sections are the closest ones to the bus stop. My guess is that Jazz Inn would be quieter because it doesn't have its own pool.

Now you can add one of the cute tickers back to your signature!

The Jazz Inn isn't preferred unless they changed it since November 2008. :goodvibes

You are correct. I had the family suites on the brain when I said that we'd be staying in either Calypso or Jazz. We're staying preferred, so that will be one of the two Calypso buildings (I requested a room facing the pool).

Thank you both so much! I appreciate the info. I think we'll request the Jazz buildings. And as soon as we finalize the details this weekend, I'll definitely be adding a cute ticker back to my signature!

Hey all! I just modified my ressie for January to a family suite and I am just looking for a little reassurance that my family with love this resort!:goodvibes

I stayed here many years ago, and have stayed at other values since. We truly believe in being very budget conscious and this seems to be the way to go. My girls don't care to much about where we stay as long as there is a pool! :rotfl: Now that I have read some of this thread I feel a lot better about my recent resort switch!

Yep, you're correct -- my fault. I was told that the Family Suites were only in preferred sections so made an incorrect conclusion. The Jazz Inn is the second closest section to the main building.

I hope you're right!! We always request an inside facing room anyway. I don't like opening the door and seeing the parking lot.

This is our first trip with a family suite, but second trip to the ASMusic. I think the Music's pools are the most fun of any of the values. Personally, any on-site resort is better than being off-site. We enjoy them all -- values, moderates or deluxe and for the price, you can't go wrong with a value.

There are suites that face the parking lot in the Calypso 1 building. I stayed in one in 2007. It was on the second floor and real quiet.

I guess I'll be asking again about trying to get a room facing the courtyard/pool. If not, no big deal but it never hurts to ask.

We stayed in the family suites a couple of years ago with 5 of us. 3 adults and 2 teenagers. It worked out okay for us, but was a bit cramped in the sleeping areas. The small pullouts really are a bit small for teens of any size. But they made do. As for the rest of the room, my wife and I enjoyed the private room with queen bed and the two bathrooms were a Godsend with 5 of us in the room. As for the overall resort, we've now stayed there twice and I'm booking another room for March, so I like it okay. I prefer a moderate, but price is an issue sometimes and I'd much rather be on property than off. I also prefer the smaller feel of the the All Stars in general to say Pop Century which is much more spread out.

Hope you have fun. And remember, most people don't spend much time in their rooms anyway. Usually its just a place to sleep and shower. It's a Disney vacation. Go, go, go. It's off to fun we go.

Yes, each building has one set of elevators in the middle of the "T" part of the building. It may be a hike to your room from there, as there are stairs at the end of each part of the building, but at least you don't have to climb stairs if you prefer the elevator.

Ok so we are booked Nov.29th-Dec 5th at ASmusic and we are so excited:banana::banana::banana:

We booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel and my TA said she requested that the two rooms I have booked have a door between then. I have heard that you can also send/fax a request to the resort itself to try and bump your chances of having the door between rooms. Anyone heard of this? Also what is the correct terminology for this ....ajoining rooms?

thanks in advance:goodvibes
