All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

We have stayed at ASMu before, and are staying there again in about 3 weeks!! We've always had great experiences at this resort. We have found the bus transportation to be very good in the past.

I do have some questions regarding online check in for the veterans on this thread. I would appreciate any guidance from those with experience with it, because we've never used it in the past. I would really just like to know if it is reliable . A poster on this thread posted that they used the service and it did not in fact check them in. Any insight would be appreciated! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I used online check-in for the first time when I stayed at ASMu. It was very easy to do online. You do get an email confirmation after you complete the online check-in. Once you arrive at ASMu, there is a queue for people who did the online check-in. The process of getting my folder & such went quickly once I was with the cast member. They even had a room ready (around 7:00 AM!), which was an unexpected, pleasant surprise. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It is greatly appreciated!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

We've stayed at ASMu many times.

The last time we were there (September) the freezer int he food court with the Mickey Bars was gone. :scared1: Mucht to he horror of my DH and DD.

Has anyone been since then and seen the Mickey Bars?

Thanks!!

The freezer is portable. They fill it in the back and wheel it out.

Ask, they might be able to get you some from the back storage freezer.

DD12 and I were there last weekend and yes they had Mickey bars in freezer.

Just back from a stay in the Broadway Building, and I have to report, they still do NOT have curtains dividing the sink area from the rest of the room.:sad2:

Ok so we are set to be here next weekend...we have never stayed at any All Stars, my questions is, if I check in online can I still request the Jazz building upon "check in"? Or should I just wait to check in there?

You should call ahead and have it noted on your reservation that you would like to be in the Jazz section. However, it still won't be a guarantee.

You may not get Jazz. I have requested it 2x and was given Broadway both times.

I called and requested Jazz #2 and #9...I believe I read that somewhere on here...also is Calypso close? Could I request that one too or is it preferred? Thanks in advance!

Calypso is preferred. It's the one right up front by the pool, but Jazz is right behind it :)

When we've stayed here, I've always requested Jazz and have always been given Jazz. Maybe you will get it, too. :goodvibes

We booked for next September. We stayed in 2009 in the Broadway builiding, this trip I booked Preferred.

Hopefully you won't experience what I have now experienced twice at ASMu. And that is booking a preferred room and not getting it. :sad2:

If having a preferred room is very important to you, you may want to stay at the Sports. At the Music many of the regular preferred rooms were converted into suites, so they have a lesser number of preferred rooms to give out. Your odds of getting a preferred room are much better at the Sports.

A couple of years ago we booked 2 preferred rooms at the Sports on the advice of my Dreams Unlimted TA. And I was suprised at how much I liked the resort. The Sports theme is not done in a gross in your face masculine way. The preferred buildings are actually quite pretty, as they have a blue surf theme.

Well, I want preferred but if I don't get it I won't be took upset as long as I get my money back. I think we will have a car so either way it won't be too much of an issue.

I have been home 20 days, and am still waiting for the money back the promised me.:rolleyes1 My TA is now looking into it for me.

I have to say this all makes me very sad, as I think ASMu is a great resort in every other way! But now I have twice booked a preferred room at ASMu and gotten it neither time. Makes you wonder what the heck their problem is.

We have stayed at ASMu once in 2009 I believe it was. We loved it. We did not book preferred, but got it and loved not having to walk so far to get to the main building. We have a car, so bus stops are no problem.

We just booked 2 rooms for the free dining next year in September- one preferred and one family suite. I requested they be next to each other so I hope it pans out. I will be happy as long as they are close to one another. I promised my sister that Disney pull outs can't be too bad as she will be on one in the suite. :wizard: Hopefully I am not lying. Can anyone say they did not mind the pull outs in the suite?

While it stinks not getting a preferred room upon arrival- that I find more understanding. Not getting your money back immediately though for the difference is beyond ridiculous.

I shared the couch pull out with my niece, I think she was around 13 at the time. And we both slept just fine! Although the pull out is a bit awkward to get out off. I had to kind of roll out of it.

The trip where we had a family suite was perfect! The location was great, and we had a blast! Which is why it makes me so sad that they can't seem to count how many preferred rooms they have, and keep them for the people who actually have one reserved.
