All I Want to do is Replace my Wooden Picket Fence

I went to Home Depot and all they have are plastic fences. Am I going to have to find someone that actually has to build a fence??

Let your fingers do the walking....there are fence companies which still install real wooden fencing.

DH is trying to replace some of our post and rail fence. He had to go to a fence supply store to get the materials. Home Depot and Loews didn't have it.

I second the fencing companies. You should still be able to find wooden fence.

Think about the vinyl fencing, thought. There are some beautiful patterns, and can you say NO MAINTENANCE?

Do you have Lowe's near you? They have a good selection of wooden fences. Don't have them install it for you though....they quoted me over $11,000 to install a vinyl fence. The materials were only $4,000! They couldn't explain why it was going to be over $7,000 to install it. I went with a fence company who is going to install it for just under $6,000. So, if you can't find a fence company, try Lowe's, if you can install it yourself.

Pay to get it installed if you can. It is worth it if there are any issues down the road. Nothing worse than installing a fence yourself only to have it fall over one year later.

We're doing one side of the property line and it's over 300ft long. Plus, we have to have a chain link fence behind it so my idiot neighbor's horses don't chew on my vinyl fence.

I thought it would be cheaper to just have the idiot neighbor killed and then we wouldn't need the fence, but that's just me.

I like that 8' brick idea though.....
