Is anybody know when is the pirate night? 10 more days I can start to make reservation for Palo. I would love to know when is the best night to go and not miss out much. ( inclusing the show schedule!!)

Ahh, not new to DCL but new to the boards.

What grade is your daughter in? If she is in Jr High, she'll probably enjoy the Edge. My daughter was 11 last year and loved meeting the other tweens in the Edge and hanging out with them for the week. With a lot of "at sea" days (compared to the 3-4 day cruises), there is a lot more time to explore and relax on the ship.

As far as the FE goes, I'll add you to the list. There are a couple of threads on the main board (they are probably under DCL FAQ) that describe FE. Basically you hang what is called a Fish Extender outside of your door and other Dis Board members deliver small trinkets/gifts throughout the cruise. Let me know if you have trouble finding the threads and I'll link them for you.

She just turned 11. and start Jr. high this year. It has been really fun being pre-teen parents She is little shy until get to know ppl. I heard that Edge is old conference room? Is there enough space to do any fun activity? Do we need to sign her up? I saw that our son's registration site but not hers....

For FE. I have been googleing. And start understand a little. It sounds really fun. I better get start gathering some idea!!! Normally How many gift should we prep? since some ppl sign up last mins right?

Woo hoo! 100 Days!

What excursions is everyone considering?

Since PurtyPat isn't back online, we should probably figure out how we want to do the FE? Should we set a deadline to sign up? Should we set a meet place and time on the first day? Anyone have any input?

We are considering a couple of things as far as excursions go. In Puerto Vallarta I think we are going to do the zip lining with Los Veranos. Not sure how I got talked into that one as heights really aren't one of my favorite things!

In Cabo, I think we'd like to do some sort of whale watching tour. I've contacted a couple of sailing charters to see about getting a boat. Not sure if we will go that route or just do a bigger catamaran. We did a whale watching tour on our honeymoon lots and lots of years ago and loved it. I think the girls would have a blast!

I'm actually kind of glad the cruise only stops at two ports. Less pressure for me to plan things.

I definitely think we should put a deadline on the FE sign up. Not sure what that should be so I'll let everyone else chime in here. I imagine that we'll have lots more people joining us as it looks like the boat is filling up fast! Only a couple of categories left and I don't think there is any more availability with the free kids promo!

I think there should definitely be a deadline for the FE exchange. That way we all know when to finish shopping and how much we need and not have to worry about running around at the last minute. The last one we did, the organizer did some kind of google spreadsheet that everyone could access online with the names and room numbers, etc. Then when it was closed, I printed it off and brought it with me onto the ship. We never had a meet-up.

That being said, I don't know how to do an online spreadsheet, but it can't be that hard. If you wanted me to, I could assemble the names and keep it updated. I was wondering about room changes as there was someone in our last one that we couldn't find (they must have been upgraded). Perhaps if someone's room got changed at the last minute, they could leave me a note on our stateroom door and people could check there for updates? (If they couldn't find someone on the list) I am very ok with someone else handling it too but just know that I am willing if you need!

I can set up a Google doc spreadsheet that can be viewed and edited by anyone with the URL. I think there needs to be a deadline for the FE. That way we aren't rushing around to get more stuff or make more gifts. On my last cruise the person organizing FE made a spread sheet and had a map of the cruise ship and highlighted the rooms (made it so easy to find people) he then emailed it to everyone participating. So we had to send him our email address. This made it easy for updates - he just emailed the group to give everyone the update. I do like the idea of posting updates on someone's door.

I made a Facebook group for our cruise. The Facebook group is called DISboarders Wonder Feb. I've never made a group for FB so not sure if I did it right. I set it up "secret" that way people not in the group can't see it (I don't want the whole world knowing when I am going to be gone) Only people on the cruise that join the FB group will be able to see it (that is what I understand unless I set it up wrong) My last cruise did this and it made it so easy and fun to communicate. This site is great but sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the info.

I would love to join FB group but will probably wait until after Christmas as it is a surprise for kids and I often leave my FB open. I wouldn't want them to see something pop up!

Deadlines.... What do you think, a month before we cruise? Is that enough time?

On our previous cruises, we always tried to find a time to meet on the first day. Usually it was around 3 pm in one of the lounges. The person in charge usually had copies of the spreadsheet and updated them if anyone changed rooms at the last minute. If that works, great. If it doesn't then that is okay too. It looks like at least three of us are GTY so we won't find out our room numbers until later.

One thing that worked out well on our last cruise is that everyone was asked to put some sort of lime green Mickey on their lanyard. It made it easier to identify other Dis Board members throughout the cruise. One person in our group laminated the lime green Mickey paint chips from Home Depot and attached clips to them and passed them out at the meet on the first day.

The MR cruises have a lot of time at sea and, on our last cruise, my husband and I felt like we should have planned time later in the cruise to have a more relaxed meeting. It seemed like we were all running into each other but never had time to sit down and chat.

If others are interested, some ideas might be -
Palo - private room for 12-14 people is available for brunch or dinner. My understanding of this is that this would be instead of your one Palo dining option. If people are interested, we would need to contact DCL before the cruise. That is, unless Palo isn't completely booked and we could arrange an additional Palo meal after we board the ship.
Tastings - We can try to get a group together for certain tasting events. We can't arrange this in advance but can ask Guest Services to help out once we board.
Cove Cafe - In the MR, the last day at sea is kind of slow and pretty cold We can set a time to meet in the Cove Cafe.

I'm rambling here as it is a cold and gloomy Veterans' Day in So Cal.

Everyone can enter their own information (as much or as little). If people have it bookmarked, it's easy to get to and see how many are on the list as they're planning. I agree...a month would be the latest date for a cut-off I think.

I know on our last cruise, we really didn't meet any other people and I was a bit sad about that. I should have made more of an effort to make some friends! It was only a 4 night so we didn't have a pile of time for adult things anyway but a 7 night might be different!

See I told you I didn't know what I was doing when I created the facebook group. I must have done something so no one could join defeats the purpose right I'll change it to an open group so everyone can join. If that doesn't work then someone that knows what they are doing will have to take over
