Alec Baldwin on The View Friday

I haven't watched the interview yet. I'm sure it won't change my opinion of either of them - he's a punk and she's a nut. :( And its their kid who suffers. :(

I have no patience for adults who act like they are the children and the child is the adult. That is what I see here. Don't know either of them, but from what the media has reported over the years it certainly seems to be the case. I like him as an actor, I did at one time like her too but haven't seen her in anything in years. The fact they were blessed with riches and privilege far beyond 99.99% of the world but cant' seem to act like grown ups when it comes to their child does not endear me to them as people.

That pretty much sums up my view! :)

I just finished watching the interview. I know this sounds hateful and this didn't even cross my mind until after I watched the interview, but now I am wondering if HE was the person who released the tape.

After watching the interview I learned that he already had a book due for a fall release. What better way to get publicity for a book about parental alienation than to make yourself an alienated parent. He wants out of his nbc contract and they will not let him out of his contract, so what do you do, go public with your new "mission" so the network looks like they are holding back a "nice guy" who is only thinking about everyone other than himself.

Wouldn't surprise me.

I don't see what courts not supporting fathers has to do with screaming "pig" at a young girl.

It doesn't. In the original post when I brought up the courts I was merely remarking on some of the topics of the interview. Are we allowed to do that?

I don't know about over and over. Do you think the tape is a lie????

And what do you mean by "as well." Please point out where I said his parental rights should be revoked.

I'll save you the trouble: I never said it.

I have gone off on my kids. And they do deserve it, because they are beasts sometimes. (That's a joke, I don't actually scream that at them sincerely.) But I have never, would never say anything like that. Not unless I was totally senile.

I never said you said that. The fact is his parental rights have been suspended due to the release of this tape. Not sure why my statement was so confusing. And how does his having a day in court not have something to do with the vile things he said. He HAS to go to court because of this phone call. So one would think that one has something to do with the other.

I would never call my kid a "pig" either but I've heard many parents tell their children they are "selfish" or "spoiled brats" or "drama queens" are those names socially acceptable or is it just "Pig" that isn't?

That's possible. We just don't know. And it doesn't change the fact that it was vile for him to say such things.

You're right the media doens't have anything to do with what he said. However they are responsible for the emotional turmoil the gilr is not publicly going through because of this. If it isn't bad enough to have your father calling you names, your mother obviously has issues, the divorce is nasty - but NOW, we have to have this go public! I wouldn't want to be her at school on Monday. The media has to be held somewhat accountable for the way they report the news and what they report. In my opinion good judgement was not used in this situation. Does it excuse him from what he said - absolutely not.

I do not believe that is the definition of mistake. Like I said, he didn't mean to be nice or even stern and WHOOPS started screaming "pig" at his daughter. Just because a person does something they regret doesn't mean it was any sort of "mistake."

Well then what exactly would you define it as?

I think you and I are talking two different things - you seemed focus on just his phone call. In my original post on this thread I addressed you but then also went on to talk about points in the interview he gave. Like the courts, the media, and parental alienation.

If anyone can show me where I called an distinct individual "Self Righteous" I would really be interested. Here is my statement:

The only true victim here is that poor girl and hopefully she'll be able to salvage a relationship with both her parents. I contnued to be amazed at the self-righteous attitudes of people on the DIS. Mistakes are made, and you're right he doesn't owe you an apology. He made a public statement, he has hopefully had a chance to apologize to his daughter and that's the end of it.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are shining examples what every divorced couple should aspire to, if possible.

When they divorced they got houses nearby so that they could continue to parent their children together.

That is not possible in every case but how wonderful it would be if it were.

I tried to post this last night but the DIS went down. Glad to know that I am not the only one that had that thought.:

I haven't been able to read all the responses here (the DIS is moving VERY slow for me right now). I just got a chance to watch the View which I recoreded earlier.

I am not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, but I am findng it very interesting that all this is happening right when he has a new book that addresses some of these issues coming out. I am guessing that sales will much higher than they would have been. . .

I don't think he would do that to his daughter on purpose and then leak it himself, but boy, the timing sure couldn't have been better. He is even going to use this to try to get out of his TV contract which will make it easier to promote the book.

And it sure was nice of Rosie to be sure and mention the book during the interview.

Just the thoughts I had as I watched.

I feel bad for him. While what he said wasn't right - parents go off at their kids all the time all over the world with way worse than that - no it doesn't make it right - but the only reason this is in the news is because he's a celebrity. Whomever leaked this tape is, in my opinion, even more in the wrong than he is for leaving a message like that. That little girl still has to go to school and face her peers. It could have been handled privately.

ITA...Being a child of divorce I can see what could bring him to that boiling point, his choice of words & tone were poorly selected, but I believe it was anger at his ex.

My mother did everything she could to hurt my Dad when they got divorced, Kids often become nothing more than pawns, I can just imagine what this little girl is being fed by her mother, judging from Alec's state of mind. Making the tape public was petty and in the end is hurting the little girl the most. She'll have that hanging over her for the ret of her life. I really feel for her.

:thumbsup2 I think it is WAY WEIRD that none of his Brothers are supporting him!:confused3

They are not publicly supporting him. We don't know what has been said in private.

I thought Steven went on Larry King in supprt of his brother - if I remember he emphasized that his family loved Alec and were praying for them.. he did NOT defend the words... but felt Alec needed support - not more bashing...

I also remember a clip from an Acess/ET/etc from another brother - again that voice message IS NOT DEFENSIBLE! You cant defend that - hate the game, not the player?

bottom line is the daughter needs support -

I'll post the public statement of Kim Bassinger's mother again, because obvioulsy some people have missed it.

No offense, but your source is quoting a National Enquirer expose.

The National Enquirer...not exactly what one should consider the pinnacle of journalistic integrity.

Meanwhile there is a poor 11 or 12 year old kid in the middle of this mess. She's probably counting the minutes till she can become an emancipated minor, or whatever that legal designation is called, and get away from both these fruitcakes.

BTW, there is no excuse for a father speaking to his daughter that way. It is indefensible. It is inexcusable. I don't care how mad he is at her. I don't care how mad he is at his ex. I don;t care how mad he is at the world. I am a daughter. I have a father. He has never spoken to me in that manner, no matter what I did. If he had, I would want nothing to do with him, no matter what my maternal grandmother said about him.

Poor kid....:(

Actually, you called everyone on the DIS self-righteous. I believe the exact quote was "the self-righteous attitudes of people on the DIS".
