I know you can either bring 2 bottles of wine per adult or 1 six pack of beer 12 oz or less. Can the beer be bottles or does it have to be canned?

Since you are giving advice regarding drinks on board, do most people bring their own thermal coffee mug/container and a separate soft drink container. Ie been told the cups they give you are rather small. TIA!

You certainly may - but you should use the provided cups to fill your container of choice and not fill your personal container from the drink station directly.

Can you bring skinny girl margarita? They are like the size of wine bottles but not technically wine.

Technically, no. And if the security screeners check it will very likely be confiscated. Will they check? Debatable.

So basically if you are willing to risk the bottles being confiscated you can always try. Butknow that you are taking something that is not allowed and don’t argue if they take it.

And just remember that you are supposed to consume it only in your cabin. Not on deck, not by the pool.

The allowed carry on is "wine/champagne or beer". While actual experiences can vary, it's most often ONLY wine/champagne or beer. If the label has any of those words they've let it pass. If not, than "no".

We usually fly in the night before and use the cruise transportation from WDW to PC. After we check in for the transportation I usually nip into the store to buy a bottle of wine, a 6-pack of beer and some Smart Water. The store usually double bags it for me and I carry it on the cruise ship. It's a big heavy but usually we have the room soon enough to get rid of it fairly fast.

Yes, any beverages you bring onboard must be hand carried.
The one 5 day cruise we went on I had a rolling backpack with 2 bottles of wine, a 6 pack beer and a 6 pack of water. It was way too heavy to carry and obviously I had it with me. The one item the scanner questioned was the water. LOL We always have a rolling carryon with us because we use the Disney cruise transportation and the big bags are picked up the night before. So I was wondering if I could smash my beer and wine in there with our overnights. It's still being carried/pulled on my me so it should work, right?

"hand carried" as in not in checked bags.

I wish they allowed 4-packs of 16oz can beer mostly bc I'm a craft beer nerd and all the good stuff from our local breweries comes in 16oz 4-packs. Whamp whaaa (and yeah, not a "real" problem, I know haha).

We do plan on bringing two six-packs of good stuff and also an (off-brand) YETI tumbler or two. But definitely not so we can drink the beer outside of our rooms with no one noticing. Only for water and the like. 😇

We're craft beer people too. Those "little" cans look like samples -LOL. I guess no problem connecting with cruising seem that life shattering given pandemics and invasions, but here we are...

Thankfully some of our local breweries (we live in Charleston and have a ton of good ones here) have started canning some of theirs in 6 packs so guess we'll manage 😂

Yes, as much as you can carry. We even saw some 24 bottle cases that had luggage tags and were sitting in front of cabin doors with the luggage.
Just be aware checking items that contain beverages is not usually allowed. DCL's policy is all beverages must be carried (wheeled or otherwise) onboard, not in checked bags.

Of course, asking a porter if you can check a case of water, they're going to say "yes". They don't work for the cruise line, and they're not going to jeopardize a tip by saying "no".

And, if your checked beverage happens to break and damage other passenger's items, you will be paying for it.
