ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade!

Fab news! :worship: Have they got back to you already? :cool1:

Yes and I've confirmed our details so we're in!!! :goodvibes I am SO pleased - even tho' it's ages away, this definitely makes the trip seem more real... :thumbsup2

Do you know, Richard hadn't realised we were on the same cruise!!! :headache: Last night I spoke to him about the Harv & Marv excursion and he was genuinely gob-smacked to discover you, Lee, me and him were all Alaska-bound together!!! Honestly, sometimes I wonder how much he actually listens to me...

Cool!!!! They are great pics, I love Sealions!

That tail fluke pic is fab! Looks like you were very close. :thumbsup2

We were close, but I kind of cheat ... I have a Canon point-and-shoot camera that has a 12x optical zoom (S3-IS, the current model is something like a S20-IS). It isn't a fancy digital SLR with an extreme telephoto lens, but I can get closer with the zoom than most digital point and shoot cameras.

It sounds like they will have a lot of Disney passengers that day! Here's another pic of an eagle we saw motoring out of the harbor ...

And some more sea lions ... no telephoto on this one, they were this close!

The ears on these guys make them sea lions rather than seals.

Great photos Frank! Keep them coming....::yes::

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: That is SO funny! I guess that just proves how much our menfolk glaze over when we go on about Disney holidays! :rotfl:

I hope he wasn't disappointed. ;)

Not at all - he was very pleased actually!!! :scared1:

Ooh just a thought - I guess we must be about 18 months away from sailing by now! Slowly but surely we're counting down... :thumbsup2

When we were on Princess, the other whale watching excursion sponsored through the ship was on a boat like this:

They get from 25 to 50 people on the larger boats. While I prefer smaller boats, the larger boats like this have less movement while under way, and might be a better choice for someone worried about sea sickness.

You see humpback and killer whales in Juneau; this is a humpback:

Thanks for the photos Frank.

The large boat you've pictured is like the one I went on in Sydney but I am looking forward to Harv & Marv's more personal experience.

Fab whale photo - I'm so looking forward to spotting them... :cloud9:

I am looking forward to Harv & Marv's more personal experience.

Me too - it's going to be fantastic with just the 4 of us! ::yes:: We can always stock up with motion sickness patches/drugs etc... ;) :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

As you can see in my pics, the seas were very calm when we were there in 2008. That's not unusual; you are in pretty protected waters. Anything can happen, I guess, but we found the entire cruise to be easy sailing!

Hello everyone,
I wanted to introduce ourselves. I guess we are the only ones in this group traveling with young kids, who will be starting the school the day after we return, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I see that we will be (almost) next door neighbors to acourtwdw, since we are in cabin 5020. This will be our fourth Disney cruise, the second on the Wonder, and we are all looking forward to it. Hopefully our youngest won't be too young.

Carl (me)
Karen (DW)
Kailey (DD 10, at time of cruise)
Christopher (DS 7)

I am signed up for this but not sure if I will keep it. Embarcation day will be my 47th birthday.

A group of sea lions is called a "raft" believe it or not.

gonna take the opportunity to throw in a logo too
