ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade!

The Dream was AMAZING!!! It really didn't feel crowded at all--except when the shops opened and everyone wanted Maiden Voyage stuff (Sadly some people were just plain rude). Other than that...the ship was amazing. Here are a few of my highlights:

-The art around the ship was really cool. A lot of the art is electronic, so it moves when you walk past, it changes every day, and when you walk past the art it doesn't always do the same thing.

-The attention to detail in everything! From the tablecoths and napkins to the iron work and chandaliers.

-The Aqua Duck was really cool! If you're sitting in the back of the raft you get soaking wet, but it's a blast!

-The mini golf game up on Goofy's Sports deck was neat. There were tees for Max and Goofy, so you could change up the game if you wanted.

Overall, all I have to say is WOW! I could keep going with highlights! I was really surprised at how the ship didn't feel crowded, and I think that's partially because it's huge compared to the Magic and Wonder. I highly recommend a cruise on the Dream!!:cool1:

Thanks so much! We are thinking of sneaking a 3 day cruise in before Alaska so we'll be Gold Castaway in August (although don't know exactly how much that will gain us).

I realized when I went to the first post that the OP was no longer with us on this cruise..I did send her a PM. I also noticed that the list is no longer current but won't be able to change anything about it since I was not the OP. Should we start a new thread? Can we?

I would like an up to date list to see who is going with us. What do you think? I don't want to step on anyone's toes but I think we need to know who is FE and who isn't etc...

Let me know what you think and maybe a moderator can tell me if we can start a new thread?

Des, Claire is on vacation. So it will probably be another week before you hear back from here. (I only know this by reading some of her other posts:rolleyes1)

Lucky Duck was on the Dream MV and then a long stay at WDW. :goodvibes

I am sure she would be more than happy to change her 1st post to tell folks which post has the cruise info in it.

I posted the graphic that I had saved on the facebook page (link on 1st page of this thread). I do apologize that I can't give credit to the DISigner, but I don't know whose it is. If anyone knows please let me know so I can give credit and ask permission/forgiveness for posting it. Thanks!

I saw it - very cute but I am not sure who designed it. Maybe we should start over since so many people seem to have come and gone?

Thoughts anyone? I will start a new thread and post the link here. That was we can start getting a good count of who is going and where they are staying :)

Thank You, see you on the new thread

I just joined the cruise group on facebook! My husband and I just got off the Dream on the 30th (We did the maiden voyage), and while onboard we booked this cruise. We actually had to cancel the West Coast Repo (we're moving from TX to WA due to work), and we weren't going to be able to make the WCR cruise. This will be my 3rd DCL cruise, and my husband's 4th. We both love Alaska, and we're actually trying to move up there! As I was joining the facebook group I just realized that we're actually cruising over my birthday (9/4), so now I'm really really really really excited!

Can someone please give me a summary of the last 26 pages of the thread...have any decisions been made about FE, roster/list, who is in charge of what, etc. Thank you thank! We're looking forward to the cruise!!

We are headed out on the Dream in April, were going to wait for the Fantasy but just couldn't wait.

Us either! Just booked a quickie over Memorial Day weekend so we'll be Gold for Alaska. Anyone know what extra perks that might get us?

Pretty much you get to book your excursions a little earlier and you get to go to the CC party.

Come join us on the new thread!

Just heard back from my husband's work, and it looks like everything is all messed up with the move. Hopefully we're still going to be cruising on this cruise--we may end up doing both this cruise and the west coast repo up to Vancouver. We'll see what happens with work! See you on the new thread!

Thanks Tracy, do you know if there is an additional cost if you do the train instead of the van?

The train is more because you have to pay a one way ticket for the train. I think the ticket is $80 or something like that.

I know I'm in red on the roster about transferring but I am keeping the cruise. I have flights booked to and from Vancouver so I am sticking with it now.

There was a graphic I liked with a moose on it.

I liked the moose one too.

Glad your staying.:thumbsup2
