ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

She is finally pulling out of port 5 p.m. Vancouver time. I am now going to watch the Wonder sail right past the webcam!

Read the following from those who got off Wonder yesterday:

Also reporting back for future cruisers, there was PLENTY of Alaska mech left in the stores. I will post photos when I get home tomorrow. There were plushes, postcards, shirts and sweats, Totem poles, russian dolls, scrap books, vinylmation, book marks and plenty more, so don't worry.

I am still looking for the Chip n Dale pins and the chararcters sitting on the anchors pins! If they have any I would really appreciate some help from fellow DISers! Drop me a note when you get back if you are able to get any and I will gladly reimburse you!

Have a great cruise! (I am totally jealous!)

JoAnne

HI everyone, I am in need of lots of luck and pixie dust! this hurricane needs to move east about 200 miles otherwise she will be going right over my house.
We leave on Monday morning and that is when the big wind will be here Sunday into Monday :sad2: still hoping Irene turns east. Anyone ever have flight problems before?

FINALLY!!!!!!!! after checking every day since July I was able to get my 4 rooms at Cedarbrook Lodge in Seattle for Sept. 6th:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I was checking all of my last minute stuff today and had to make myself step away from the luggage. I started to 2nd guess my packing and was seriously considering redoing it all---why you ask? I haven't the foggiest idea I just took a couple of things out so I could put the raincoat underneath them. I think I am staying out of the guest room until Sunday morniing when we leave for the airport.:scared1:

Have a great night :goodvibes

Uggh Bob!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to say some prayers for you and send some pixie dust your way.

I know that the news said airlines and hotels were scrambling with cancellations and such for Carribbean destinations. Have you considered calling them and seeing if there is a flight you could change to? I would also call DCL and advise them of your travel plans---so that they know that you may be affected by weather.

My GF almost missed the Dream maiden voyage because of flight delays. DCL was awesome with her---they told her when the latest she could arrive at MCO was and still make the cruise. She kept in contact with one gentlemen in the terminal and they were the last family to board that day.

Bob - hoping you have no problems. So sorry.

MagicalFan _ So exciting your there. Let us know what is fun.

Tracey _ your the best. Looking forward to meeting you on the trip!! And I live 20 minutes from Disneyland, so when you make your trip. I'm here to help.

Paula - still amazing. All you do.

PJ _ still hoping to get the girls together.

Me...I am just to busy and life has been a little overwhelming. Looking forward to getting away. I always want things to be just right but with everything going on I am trying to let some things go. Maybe we will have magnet, maybe we will have shirts, and maybe I will know the fun stuff to do in Vancouver..but if not I have decided it will be ok. The best thing is just being with my mom and kids and such a magical boat.

Oh, and I am trying not to worry about rain.

To all of you the best of planning, rest and fun ahead!!

Thanks Kimberly, I tell you I am so looking forward to waking up Sunday morning and heading to the airport. This last month has been non stop LIFE & WORK & a little mafia wars thrown in there. I agree 100% of it will be what it is and it will be a great time! Lots of new things to see and experience---and if we don't get to do something this time just one more reason to add going back to the list. Looking forward to meeting you:)

LOL - glad it's not just me! Seeing as we're spending a few days in Portland to start our vacation - and it's supposed to be in the mid 80's there thru the weekend - added shorts & tshirt to my bag... tho I doubt I'll need them once we're on the Wonder, tho - forecast temps are still in the lo-mid 50's in all 3 ports. Maybe I'll pack a set of long underwear after all :rotfl:

Kim - glad we could help out - hmm... maybe if we speak whale (like Dory), we'll get to see more of them? :D

Paula have you heard anything from Dyea Dave lately?

The hurricane is causing some problems with my group. Jeanette is coming form New Foundland. She was to leave monday moring but now they have changed her flight and she is flying to Calgary Saturday and staying with her brother until monday and then catching the second half of her flight. So all is worked out on this end.:thumbsup2

Prayers to all affected by Hurricane Irene. I want to send some pixiedust: you alls way. This has really been a tough time on everyone it seems and I am so looking forward to this trip and meeting you all.

We don't fly out until Tuesday morning. It's only a 2 1/2 hour flight from LAX to Vancouver, so we should be ok. I just hate leaving the day of a cruise when you have to fly in.

Oh, and didn't make it to Disneyland after all. Which, believe it or not, I am pretty relieved about. I just have too much to do at work before the trip to miss a day. Maybe we will go for my birthday in December.

Have fun all.

Tracey, no I haven't. The last email I got was awhile back telling me about the sign and such way back in May.

Paula,

You'll be on the same bus as Tracy. It is a 21 passenger bus, with Barry as the driver. He has been giving tours in Skagway for at least ten years now and is very good! Dave's bus is full already. You can have lunch of soup and sandwiches, but it is not included in the $79 each cost. The $89 with lunch included is only for groups of 12 or more.

Decide the day of, if you want to take the train!

You'll look for a Dyea Dave sign when you get off the ship or a white bus with Dyea Dave written on it at 7:45am.

Bring your passports! You are booked for six!

Becky

I am thinking that Janet might stay on the bus instead of taking the train. I'll send them a confirmation email today.

I am glad Jeanette got her flight sorted, it is nice she gets to visit her brother too :)

Brenda, birthdays are fun to spend in the parks :)
Seems to me that I always have more work to do before vacation---I don't know why it gets like that or maybe it just feels like that:confused3 I still have some shopping to do for both stores today so heading to Kroger.

I got rid of my gray yesterday and now Mom wants me to do her's when she is done with the office work. She was naming off all kinds of stuff she had to do before leaving (all of hers was fun tings with her friends!) I'll be glad when I am retired and can just goof off............

Amen to that, Paula. I can't wait either. Although, my boss keeps saying that I cna't retire until he is eligible. Since that is a few years AFTER I am eligible, I don't think that he will be having that wish granted!!!

And I agree with you about there seeming to be more work to do before vacation than at any other time. But I think part of it is that we are trying to do things in advance and anticipating work that MIGHT need to be done while we are away.

I am having my hair done on Saturday, but I will be keeping my Silver highlights. Miss Clairol and just were never going to be friends.:rotfl:

I have checked a few things off the list for packing and have actually packed a few items. Need to do laundry, though to finish up.

COntinue to have fun, folks.

I don't post much, but am looking forward to thisncruise with everyone. Our Saturday flight out of a small Coastal NC airport has been cancelled, so we now are rushing to make our new flight tomorow morning! Also preparing the house for a possible direct hit while we are gone, as the most recent track has the eye coming ashore right, I mean right, where we live. Nothing we can do, so we figured no need to cancel! So, we are in the air at 5:21 tomorrow morning. Seattle, here we come! Oh, not many hotels in Seattle for tomorrow night! Wanted to be downtown, and finally found something

Safe travels to you and to Bob, too! We are leaving from Newark airport early Monday morning, but I think we (in NE NJ) will be out of the high winds at that point. I just checked Continental's website to see if there were any changes, and so far nothing has changed.

Right after work I am heading out to get battery operated camping lanterns; we tend to lose power around here rather easily.

Of course, with all of the wet weather reports coming back from other Alaskan cruisers, I am now debating whether I need to spend more money and get a pair of rain boots. I think my winter boots will be too warm.

Just finished my big training exercise for the day...WHEW!

Tomorrow is big formal event here then flying to Seattle Saturday morning. Hoping ATL is not affected by Irene since that is where we are connecting.

For anyone who might not listen to the DIS Unplugged podcast, Pete just got back from cruising on the Wonder and has a podcast all about his experience. You can find it here:

Anne, I am glad you got your flights & hotel sorted. I'm keeping a ton of people in my prayers right now with this weather---so I'll add you all to the list. Safe travels and see you soon :)
