ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

if you are talking about on deck the ones we had in the Mediterranean were regular blue cotton blankets, i don't know what they stocked up on for Alaska.

I have my own blanket that I love that I bought from WDW and will be bringing that. It isn't very big but it is fleece! and rolls up nicely so will have it in my carry on for the plane too.

Talking about the ones in the room. Rick does not like the ones that deb asked about and if they are like them she will have to bring her own.

I made labels on the computer just using peel/stick address labels with my Dis name on them and a short little greeting, I also handwrite the stateroom number they are going to so it makes delivery a little easier. They are fast and quick to do. But not necessary at all.

i am doing labels, too, but since my gifts will probably (or is it hopefully?!?) resemble you, you'll know it's from me :rotfl2:

:goodvibesTracy, Linda would be the best to ask about the bedding, I think they switched it all out while she was on board. She'll be checking in I am sure. or PJ was on the Dream not too long ago and it is the same as on there.

Piikea glad you got your luggage all sorted!!!!!! What a relief for you:)

Stephanie, enjoy your day at Grouse. Paragliding would be an awesome way to begin the cruise! You have a dare devil for a son:)

Got the magnets on my door signs today, got a small bag together for the time in Vancouver so hopefully I won't have to get into the suitcases at all. Made a reservation for our last night in Seattle. I am still checking Hotwire daily for the hotel I want, if it doesn't show up I am not going to sweat it though. Just need to sort the FE stuff. But it looks like the packing is done (well Alan hasn't started his--LOL)

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday

Am pushing DH to start thinking about packing. Am really concerned with how much luggage we may end up with for the 3 of us for 10 days. Already know we will end up doing some laundry.

Also, finally saw the credit on my credit card we were discussing previously.

I hear what you are saying. My husband is trying to make sure that I reach Platinum by our October 2012 cruise. This cruise will only be number seven so, I will have to sneak in 3 more before then :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes.

What a sweet husband you have!!!!!!!!!:lovestruc

Time is sure ticking away! I think some of you are pretty close to a week before go time. It is 10 days for us as we are taking the quick one hour flight on the morning of.

FE gifts finally done! We are running out for hopefully our last shopping trip for this cruise. Owen needs new dress shoes, gloves and maybe a hat ;Bill needs new jeans; we need candy, maybe a character signing item, and maybe something to make our Fish Extender. (I got a little behind with my neck and back acting up!)

Hopefully by Sunday we will be 70-80% packed - fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone finalizing everything and to those leaving early have a great trip and I look forward to seeing you all on board!

Marni

I wont be putting tags on ours either.

Piikea, I'm not sure if you mentioned this, but will you be checking in here once you reach Vancouver? You'll be there 2 days ahead of us so I'll be curious about the weather.

My husband has been out of town for 2 of the last 3 weeks, and he used one of the suitcases that we planned to bring as a checked bag. Keep in mind, we have not checked luggage since Continental started charging for it. I picked up that bag and could not believe how heavy it was. I went out and got a handheld fish scale (don't have a home scale) and weighed it; it was over 15 lbs empty. :scared1:

I made the executive decision that we needed lighter luggage. Today I got 2 new 24" expandable bags that weigh just over 9 lbs each. I don't plan to overstuff them, but I wanted a little extra wiggle room should we want to make any purchases while away.

I also got 2 pairs of Smartwool outdoor socks for each of us for our excursions, 2 rain jackets and 2 rain ponchos. I think we are pretty much set now. We'll need to get all of our laundry done by next Saturday because Sunday I have a 2-year-old's birthday party in Brooklyn to attend.

Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to get through this week; I'm so excited!

Yes, I went back to my pictures to confirm what I remembered, and the beds have all been switched out. You now have sheets and then down comforters. In the closet there is the light beige/brown blanket if you need it. I used the blanket during the day when I would take a nap on top of the bed.

I also purchased the fleece blanket that has the Disney Wonder on it and it says Alaska "Inaugural Sailings 2011". It has each of the ports listed. If I remember right I paid probably $30 for it. But with my discount for spending $100 in the store, I can legally say, I only spent $5 on it :rotfl::rotfl:

Disney just saves me so much money HA :confused3

Well it is rainy and cloudy in Ketchikan this morning. There are already 3 ships in port, the Disney Wonder will be there in a couple of hours! That's us in a couple of weeks. I am hoping the weather clears up

We too are flying the day of but much further than 1 hour.

Pushed up all of our plans for getting to the airport because Obama is coming in for the National American Legion Convention. :worship: With a little pixie dust and the luck of the Irish we hope to get out before they close the airport for his arrival, if not we may be the last people on the ship.

Finally got the FE gifts assembled and packed - hope the TSA doesn't freak out over a block of 18 fridge magnets - may move that to an outside pocket, just in case. Also completed the door magnets, but don't think they'll be as much of an issue. I did print out a sheet of labels w/ our names & room numbers to use on the FE gift packs - found cute Toy Story ziplocks that hold everything nicely. :goodvibes

We're both about 90% packed - used my Wii Fit balance board to weigh the suitcases - 37 lbs & 41 lbs, so I think we'll be good weight-wise. Definitely doing laundry during the trip - we planned for 6 days of shirts/underclothes - but having to dress for dinner makes that more complicated. Honestly - we'll prob wear jeans and something a bit nicer than t-shirts to the non-formal dinners - hope we don't ruin anyone else's vacation! :lmao:

For carryons - will be schlepping a a wheeled duffel with clothes for the first few days of the trip (Flying to Portland on Sat to visit w/ friends), a backpack with the laptop and other misc stuff, and Scott's camera bag backpack with the nice camera. The wheeled duffel will be checked on the way back & we have 2 extra bags tucked into the luggage that may become carryons, depending on how much shopping we do!

Thanks I let deb know.:thumbsup2

I am soooo in need of the this trip, but I am soooo not ready yet. I have a suitcase full of stuff from the last week long cruise we took last year.

I have a few things pack in my carry on, however, that stuff needs to go into the regular suitcase.

Well, at least our magnets and shirts are done. The shirts came out very nice. We are going to wear one the first day of the cruise. That way we will be identifiable to other "Mooseketeers" :)!

Oh, just to complicate matters a bit, we are going to Disneyland on Wednesday. What is a girl to do? I guess I will just have to muddle through.

Happy packing, Everyone!!!

Really packed over the weekend and must be taking too much stuff. Will try taking out and rearranging again. Plan on doing laundry at least once since we'll be spending a couple days in Seattle pre-cruise as well.

Unfortunately, very busy week this week with a big formal event Friday night, then when I get back expected to particpated in a training exercise going in basically cold since I iwll have just gotten back. :(
