AKV Value studio

these are from a savannah view this past april, but as far as I know, the only difference is the view...no?

the value studios are smaller than the other studios. they have all the same furnishings but are about 3 feet shorter, making things a little more cramped.

a couple of value studios have a savannah view, some have pool or parking lot views. the difference is in the size of the room.

Kgar2121 do u remember if the in room safes are a good size or are they similar to what they ahve in other resorts on site? Thank you.

I was able to fit my laptop in the room safe at AKV last spring. I believe Disney's making a point of putting larger safes in all the new rooms they build.

Wow really? Thats great! Just to get an idea if mine would fit how big is your laptop screen. Mine is 15.4 it would sure be nice to be able to throw that in there. Then hopefully we won't lose the key in the park again. My husband lost it around Everest last year so they came to re key the safe for us took the CM maybe 1 minute tops but it cost a pretty penny for that one minute.

The furnishings are not exactly the same. Due to the rooms being 3 feet shorter the studios do not have the bench seat with the storage drawer. Given how little drawer space there is in the dresser, we found that large storage drawer very helpful. In the 1BRs they have a regular chair rather than a sleeper chair. Actually some 1BRs do have the sleeper chair but there isn't enough room to open both the sleeper chair and the sleeper sofa. Consequently, the occupancy for the 1BRs and 2BRs is 4 and 8 for the Values rather than the 5 and 9 for the larger rooms.

I have a 14" widescreen but there was a bit of room to spare, I think your's should fit. The front desks also have a safe room with larger boxes, but dropping off/picking up can be a pita on a daily basis - I only used it after we checked out and went to the park before ME came.

I've always worried about loosing the key, so instead of bringing it with us I hide the key in a place I'll remember. The room safes are not perfect - this last trip DS noted that our VWL safe could be pried open by 1.5 inches by hand (it might be because it was older). The fact that it's closed & locked also tips off would-be thieves that there's something of value to you in there. But, it's better than nothing.

Thank you Twinklebug. The safes you talk of that is at the front desk do they charge for those? There is a point in our vacation where we are switching rooms and moving up to Concierge. I would like to lock my computer up for the day till we get our room. If so how much do they charge? Thanks again. :)

We were at AKL 9/1 - 9/4 and I used the front desk safe for my laptop when we checked in before our room was ready and when we checked out before ME picked us up. There is no charge. It was relatively easy except you do have to wait for a front desk CM to be available to let you into the safe area.

Thanks HGLightlyj sounds like a easy enough process. I think I will give it a try.:)

We stayed in a Value Studio in July with a "pool view":rotfl2:

It was tight...but bigger than our room on the Wonder...and from the pics I've seen of the studio models at BLT it looks bigger than those. THOSE look really squished between the bed, nightstand & couch!:scared:

Thanks for the photos Anal Annie. I am not so sure about that pool view of yours though....:lmao:

There are two defined views at AKV -- Savanna View (just what it says) and Standard View (a view of a pool, garden or parking lot). In looking at the layout of the resort I couldn't figure out where the "garden" views were. Now we know!

:rotfl2: Yeah, the girl at the front desk when we checked in is the one that called it a "pool view"! I guess simply because it is on the same side of the building as the pool 'eh?!:rotfl: It was a tad misleading to say the least.....

Still a heck of a lot better than a parking lot or loading dock view...

hey, I paid over $400 per night last Feb for this "woods view" (one floor up, but not much better) at WL (yet another great push to join DVC) you see the woods out there don't you? :rotfl2: :

I was told by MS that at Jambo House, standard views ARE pool views and Value rooms are parking lot and garden views is that correct:confused3

That is not quite correct. The Value rooms face the pool area, the Sunset Savanna and the parking lot. In Jambo House the Standard View rooms face the pool area which is not the same as saying that the standard views are pool views (see below).

What makes things confusing is that for AKV, they use the term "standard view" as the name of a view and as the name of a booking category. The two defined views are "savanna view" and "standard view" where "standard view" is defined as a view of a pool, garden or parking lot. The four booking categories and the possible views for each are:

- Concierge (Jambo House only) with a savanna view or a standard view. All of the Concierge rooms with a standard view face the pool area.

- Savanna View, which all have a savanna view

- Standard View which all have a standard view. In Jambo House all of the Standard View rooms face the pool area but in some cases the view is blocked by trees or partially blocked by the roof of Boma and Jiko. In Kidani Village, the Standard View rooms face the pool area, parking area and landscaping at the front of the resort.

- Value (Jambo House only) with a view of the Sunset Savanna, the parking lot or the pool area where the view may be blocked by trees and the roof over the lower floors.
