AKV- If YOU bought how many points

I am curious, since I'm new here just purchasing SSR . Is that sold out now that there selling AKV??? What is the minimum number of points you can purchase at AKV and does anybody know $$$ or if esxisting DVC members get a discount????

Thanks so much

SSR will sell out in the fall or spring of 2008. The AKV went on sale Feb 1 to existing DVC members only. Go to Greenban's thread for all the information on the AKV presale to DVC members.

Web bought a 150 pt contract. Didn't think about splitting it up and don't think we would have anyways. We have one DD and aren't considering selling AKV (we would sell our OKW, BCV or SSR first).

Already planning our first trip home to AKV for our DD's birthday in January.

I bought 28 points because other than an add on to my BWV vacations as a nice restful day or two its about all I need. I already have more points than my DH is happy about.

We are still trying to decide on the number of points to add-on at AKV, but we are leaning toward 69. Now no funny comments about that!!! It is the number that will give us either 3 week days at the end of a trip, or a 1 bedroom SV for a week in Adventure season. That was the way I looked at it for figuring out how many we are likely to want. I first thought we would add on just 50, but too many problems with that number. After some exhaustive research and planning different point scenarios, it looks like 69 is our best bet.

Diane, you should try to swing 100. The extra 31 points will only cost $75/pt since you would get the incentive. :smokin:

PS- If I had your house I wouldn't need all my VWL points! :thumbsup2

We bought 150, in two 75 point contracts. This will give us a week in a two bedroom every other year. We have two boys so we broke the points into two contracts.

Why is this such a big deal? I was going to break contracts down too.

I figure I can add another 25 point contract in early June before the price increase, if necessary. That gives me a total of 175 points.

With banking and borrowing plus changing reservations at 7 months, I have enough flexibility for a week in a one-bedroom every other year except premier season. Also have 2 1/2 weeks with Marriott so I'm covered for vacationing!

Maybe its time to sell OKW to buy more AKV????

It may not be a big deal to you, but I'm happy to be a Founding Member. Why?? I don't know. It just feels kinda neat I guess. :cool1:

I'm pretty sure you need to buy a total of 150 by Feb 28, but it need not be in one single contract - I think you can still break it in to smaller contracts as long as they total 150 (for the tapestry).

We're at 110 now (2 - 55s) which will get us 1 wk in a 2 BR concierge every third yr (adventure) but we are considering upping that to 3 - 52s (multiples of 13 covers a number of configurations - good for when we pass on our contracts to our kids...)

We own at BWV and OKW. We bough 2 50-point contracts for a total of 100 points. We were going to buy 75 points, but the incentives made it more attractive to buy 25 points more than we had planned. We intend on staying at AKV every other year and banking and borrowing to do it.

Hi Robin,

Can you tell me what "incentive" made it better to buy 100 rather than 75? I am not seeing any price difference/savings by purchasing more.

Thanks much!

Edited to add: I even asked our guide about the incentive pricing and she said $101 a point...

If you buy at least 100 points you get a choice of an equal number of developer points, or an $8/pt discount. :woohoo:

We bought a total of 200 AKV points. I figured we needed 180 to 200something to stay so we just settled on 200. We also have 150 BWB and 180 VWL so with 530 points, we have more than we can use each year.

I bought 150 in a single contract. What is the benefit of 3 smaller contracts? Is closing higher on 3 smaller contracts?

Believe me, I'd LOVE to do the 100, but can't talk DH into it. He doesn't want the added maintenance costs, and he assumes we can plan to book at the 7 month window. The only thing he would consider is selling one of our OKW contracts and buying more points at AKV, but that isn't going to happen, since I see no reason to sell points at $77/point to buy at $92.

I think the 7 month window will be available most of the time. The exceptions will be club level and grand villas. Since the Savanah (not sure of spellin) view is going to be the draw at AKV, that might be a problem to book at the 7 month window the first couple of years. Once the resort is fully built and newness wears off, it should get better with availablity.

We just did it, bought into AKV, 100 points. We took the $8 off incentive. I was thrilled to discover that we would be getting '07 points. When we bought BWV and took Magical Beginnings at that time, taking the discount meant foregoing the present UY's points. Well, we don't need the developer's points, so this is the best of both worlds for us.
