Are they seriously keeping some of the furniture? Much like the VGC refurb disaster? Please tell me this isn''t the case.

Keep the wonderfully authentic elements of what makes AKV great, but they HAVE to remove that dark/old furniture and add some lighting to brighten the place up <IMO>

I think it's fine as along as they hire a competent person to refinish the real wood. I will take real wood any day over fake laminated junk

Well, I take back this statement. I just did my cash value w/ discount for my next trip. DVC has me hook line and sinker. Im not going anywhere even if/when they do stuff to makes me mad and makes it a little less desirable.

No arguments there! But refinishing wood is labor intensive, especially with the intricacies of the wood's design. I don't believe they did any of that on the VGC refurb, so I would be very surprised if they did with this one.

At the end of the day, I'll be happy no matter what. Murphy beds for the win! My daughters love them and I love a 1BR w/2 bathrooms!

They did some sort of refinishing at VGC, and whoever did it did a poor job and the tops are sticky.

Im glad someone posted it, i actually went to kidani to try to see it and take pics for you guys and the housekeeping manager screamed at us like a psycho when we were just walking down the hall, so my detective days are over

They did a great job, very happy owner, def feel like they preserved the things we loved, brightened it up some but not it in a tacky way, and didnt go the modern bland route. Can't wait to stay again!

It was crazy, there's no signs posted or anything not to go there and he legit yelled at us.

I didnt understand because at the meeting they told us we could try to go see them and the front desk told me they were welcoming guests on friday.

Which I dont think they actually are because no way those rooms were ready for people and he seemed so stressed out, unless there's another floor thats ready but I dont think so it seems like theyre behind schedule.

I will spare you from that crazy, I dont think you should go there

I’ve only stayed at AKV once, at Jambo. There were subtle nods to Simba. Is that true of Kidani and if so is it still the case?

Yes yes and yes!! Keeping the furniture was the best thing imo I was very very worried for this refurb and I think it actually looks more rich and cultural than before
