Can I ask how you know at what threshold DCL is still profitable? Because its almost impossible to know that metric by looking at other lines that have casinos as a big part of their revenue stream... So I am assuming you have some sort of data to back that statement up?

You want me to prove your statement wrong when you have no facts to back up your statement? The idea that you have the exact number of when the ships become profitable is an extreme statement. You are the one stating at 50% off they still make profit.

You can't possibly know at what point DCL is or is not profitable based on public data but you keep asserting that at 50% they are profitable.

We do not know at what point DCL is turning a profit. We do know that a company looks at less profit as an issue. Companies only want to see profits grow and when they shrink they start to look at ways to cut costs to increase profits.

Oh, you were trying to say your opinion is that they are still profitable at 50% off?

I understand that you are not personally concerned about their financial health or how profitable they are.

How things are presented can matter. For instance, I can say I really think that the Wish is likely headed to Galveston and that is an opinion on an opinion board. However, if I said the Wish is definitely headed towards Galveston I would expect people to want to know what my sources were. You said that they were still profitable at 50% off and I was just curious as to where you were getting that data because I actually like looking up data.

It was someone on the board who explained to me that DCL could not do longer sailings out of certain ports because of their promised passenger numbers that they made in their port terminal contracts that changed my opinion on what DCL is going to continue to offer in the near future and what I could reasonably expect out of them with those contracts.

If your opinion is that you are not worried about DCL's financial health no pushback on that at all. Opinions are just opinions, but if you have data, I would love to know what it is. I do not have data about at what threshold DCL is profitable.

There are plenty of positive articles written on DCL's profits. DCL will continue to raise the base price and offer discounts. They have used this strategy for decades at the resort hotels and it seems to have worked well for them. People think they are getting a deal when they see 40% off at deluxe resorts, but in reality they still paying a ridiculous price for what they are getting. The same psychology applies to cruise pricing.

Since I started sailing DCL 15 years ago prices have tripled or more. The GT rates were always plentiful, but now they seem to have come up with some new marketing and different type of sales. The prices are still very high even with the discounted offerings.
