Was thinking of staying at AKV for 4 nites before a cruise...do any of the AKV buses go straight to any other Disney resorts, or do the buses only go to the parks?

only parks - and we did not find using AK as a place to pick up resort busses to be very efficient since most AK-resort busses share stops with a water park (and often multiple resorts).
This is interesting, because I knew AKV had their own buses that went straight to the parks...I never thought about the water parks! So maybe its not as fast as expected. Well AKV sounds like they have a good CS and buffet, so I could take the DTD bus for other restaraunts. It is straight to DTD and back, right?
AKL has busses that go straight to the other parks - but most other resort busses stop at a waterpark and Animal Kingdom. It's really quick to get to AK from AKL via. a bus - and so it *seemed* like that would be a good place to pick up other resort busses for dining/etc - but it ended up being a HUGE mistake. Picking up a bus to try to go to BWV from Animal Kingdom park - the bus stopped at a waterpark, YC/BC, Swan, Dolphin AND BW!!I'd have been better off taking an AKL bus straight to EPCOT or MGM and gotten to a resort from there.

There are no buses at Epcot to the Epcot resorts so using MGM as a transfer spot is certainly the easiest.
To get to the MK resorts, take the MK bus and then transfer to the monorail or boat. No boat to CR but it's a fairly short walk from the MK bus stop.
Getting to DTD is never fast IMO due to all the lights along Lake Buena Vista as well as the stops within DTD.
After all of this info, now I think SSR just has to be the best resort for DDP with no parks. Thought for a moment maybe AKV with its direct buses would also be okay, but its not seeming so.
Ignoring EVERYTHING except access to DDP participating restaurants:
WITH parks: Epcot resorts
WITHOUT parks: SSR and OKW. SSR gets the slight edge because it CAN be a shorter jaunt to DTD, which has lots of offerings and will get you directly to pretty much every resort.

Thanks pilferk! Gotta go with SSR. Hey, don't forget to post that internet connection process when you go to the world in January! I know...![]()

Ditto the above.
We found MGM...well, I guess we have to start calling it DHS, now....to be the best "transfer point".
Epcot was good, too, but the buses seemed more crowded (both to and from)....and using Epcot as a transfer point to/from the Epcot resorts actually seemed counterproductive, which surprised me. We had to use a ticket to get through EPCOT and exit via International Gateway, which took awhile. There MAY have been busses, too, but I didn't see them. We found it easier to take the bus to MGM and either use the walkway or the boats.

When did they stop the boat between the CR and MK?
wow, i must have been hallucinating in Feb 2006 when we took the boat from CR to MK...
