Planning a trip to AKL for March 2008. I have stayed there twice before, but both times on the concierge level. Looking at the WDW website, there appear to be a dizzying array of room types and rates at AKL. I know I want a savannah view room for the 2008 trip, but I am not sure if I want a standard savannah, a deluxe savannah or a concierge room, where I would hope to get savannah view. I also can't help but notice that the deluxe savannah rooms are more expensive than the standard concierge rooms.:confused3

Can anyone provide some additional info on the differences in the room types and room rates (such as, why are there two different room rates for both standard and deluxe savannah rooms?)?

According to those "in the know" on the Dis, there will no longer be deluxe rooms at AKL because they are in the process of being converted to DVC rooms.

I still thought there would be deluxe rooms but not as many.

Anyway, deluxe rooms are a bit larger and accomodate 5 people because it has a day bed. They are on the 5th and 6th floors

Unless you need the daybed for a 5th person in your party I would opt for the standard room. They are not much smaller and essentially the same except for the daybed and there is a significant difference in price. Personally I would go with the standard concierge room and request a savannah view when you book it. They only have a few pool view rooms in concierge, the vast majority are savannah view and when I checked last the price was not much different for a svannah view regular room and a concierge room

The 5th and 6th floors are going to be all DVC.

Nope. Zip, zero, nada, nothing..... :)

Eventually ALL the deluxe rooms are being converted to DVC villas. There's a limited number available now, pending them being taken off line for conversion. The Deluxe rooms are going the way of the dodo at AKL. Since all the DVC rooms are slated to be open my March of '08, it's a safe bet that by the time the OP gets there, they will be gone.

AKL Concierge rooms will be standard sized, and located on the 4th floor once the conversion is complete.
