AKL September - Any Calls Yet?

We also arrive on Sept. 12 -- looking forward to MNSSHP and dinner at Boma!:cool1:

Party of 3, Sept. 12-16, pool view -- no calls yet, and maybe none expected. . .

I could just kiss you for posting this!!! I have been looking at December dates for AKL and Disney didn't have any availability online for the rest of the year (probably because they weren't allowing new reservations until they figured out the construction issues.) I just went onto the website and booked the exact same price for December that I had for September!!! I think there is a glitch in the system and they haven't removed the free dining promotion from AKL for future dates or something because I got the exact same price with the exact same details from my September free dining package for Christmas!!! Yay, I'm going to cancel my September trip and go in December now... I've struck gold!!! Of course, I moved very fast booking that new reservation because I was afraid the system would change it's mind if I waited... hehehe

Hi Wendi -- Congratulations on your fast booking. You definitely did the right thing, whether booking on-line or talking with a CM whenever you get the cost you want or a cost that sounds unreasonably good, book it at that time, because you may never see or hear of that particular price again.

I never book on-line, I always book with a CM. Once when checking for passholder or Florida resident rates, the CM checked my requested resorts and found no availability. She continued her search and quoted a 2 bedroom suite at the Contemporary for what I knew was about a 50% discount. The CM made a huge mistake, and I knew it, as Disney usually doesn't discount suites. So I basically upgraded from the 1 bedroom I was originally requesting to a 2 bedroom at a discount I shouldn't have gotten. At check-in, I was asked for my Florida identification, and mention was made of the great rate I received. I just smiled and said yes - isn't it great. The CM smiled back and said - pixie dust had been sprinkled on me, is there anything else I can help you with at this time. So, I too struck gold, by knowing the rates, and booking immediately.

I just love the AKL, it's my husband's favorite, he can't get enough of it. Anytime I mention Disney (which is quite often), he says AKL. Christmas in my opinion is the best time to be at WDW. The resorts and parks are always decorated so beautifully which enhances the magic.

Have a safe and wonderful holiday vacation.

According to one of the CM's ( which i personally spoke with today ) assigned to this special task force for the AKL issues, she stated that construction is ahead of schedule and that she's 98% sure that no one will be moved after 9/1/07. The exception would be those guests who are located near a construction zone that has not been planned or scheduled due to special circumstances.

Everyone scheduled after 9/1/07 should be fine so stop worrying. If they do move you, it will be to a comporable or better resort accomodations but the chances of that happening are slim to none, according to this CM. After 9/1/07, the intense construction will start on the villas outside; they will no longer be working inside the resort.

All of this was started by me sending in an email message last week about being worried of the construction noise and nap times for my two 2 year olds (1 is my DD2, the other is my nephew) being interrupted. She assured me it would not, and to solidify that fact, she put a notation in the computer to put me in a part of the hotel that will absolutely have 0% work and no views of obvious construction on the savannah. What this basically means is that she upgraded us from a standard view room to a Savannah view room at no extra cost.:cool1:

Wendi - we are going at the same time and have boys the same age. Hopefully we can meet at the pool (and the boys can play). Ds loves to make vacation friends.

Yes I think we are staying. I called a few weeks ago and a very nice Cm told me Sept 15 was a good time to be checking in.

Oh that would be great... Max loves meeting new kids to play with!!! And he loves that pool... in fact, I think he'd rather be at the pool than in the parks most of the time (seriously!)

We'll be there roughly the same time too--Sept. 13-19. My boys are 4 & 8--sounds like there will be a lot of fun pool time!

The more the merrier :cool1: We plan to be at the pool some on the 15th and for afternoon breaks.

Sarah saw you were a TGMer :woohoo: . So are we... I just have to get my itinerary done. We may also be hitting the same parks.

I'm actually hoping to get moved. We had originally wanted to stay at the WL - it's always been a dream of mine, but our dates were unavailable there during Free Dining so we "settled" for the AKL. I would do a happy dance  if we were asked to move, which probably means that I won't be asked to move.:lmao:

I wasn't going to admit it, but I'm thinking the same thing at this point!

Called 8/2 to guest relations. A very nice lady informed me that my reservation for 9/1-9/8 will not be effected and they had no plans of moving us.:yay:

Well, at this point things are looking pretty good for us. Although ya never know what can come up in the next month, you know how constructon work seems to have surprises!!!

Sounds like we're going to have a happy little bunch of swimming boys, I'm sure they'll all keep each other entertained.
