AKL September - Any Calls Yet?

Has anyone who has a reservation at Animal Kingdom Lodge starting in September been moved yet? I am a little nervous... just curious if anyone has been called lately.

My family of 4 will be staying at AKL from the 18th thru 23rd in a Savanna room. I didn't get any call. I am not sure if I will. I will be greatly disappointed if our trip gets spoiled over the construction. I spent the extra to get a savanna room because the kids really wanted to see the animals. If there is a lot going on, I am afraid they will move the animals.

If anyone else has any details on who or what dates may get affected, I'd love to hear.

I haven't been called. I am hoping I don't because I really don't like any of the other deluxes.

I have been playing around the Disney site (well, the few times it has been working), and I notice that the site will not let you make ressies for any check in time from the 1st-15th but starting on the 16th you can make ressies.

So with my unofficial observation I think those of us staying in the first half of the month might have a better chance of getting the call.

I don't think they will be calling people in September. I originally tried to book AKL with an AP discount for September and was told they weren't booking any at that time because they weren't sure how long the construction would take. As of a few days ago though I noticed AKL is now available for booking with an AP discount in September, which leads me to believe they won't be calling people.

No call here, either. We don't check in until 9/22 and I really hope we don't have to move!

Oh this could be very good news indeed. We check in the 16th! Yea! Guess I won't even bother to try and add a day before. Maybe I can talk the DH into a day after? hmm.....

We check in on the 13th--I keep checking here to see if anyone has gotten the call closer to my dates. I really, really want to keep our awesome (hopefully) savanna view/bunk bed room--I think the boys will really go nuts over it as part of their surprise. However, if I have to be moved to another resort I hope I get a choice. I guess I want be shocked if I don't get a call, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah the fact they are selling rooms for September again (mid September) i think is a good sign for everyone, particularly September travelers.

We are staying there from the Sept 3-10, and we have not received a call.

We are staying the 7 -15 and have received no call. Checked with my TA and she said she has one reservation showing up on the first and she keeps checking on it periodically, but so far they do not want to look at moving them. You would think they would be in the first group to be contacted since they are appearing on the first day of the month. So she is also watching mine also and will let me know if and when she hears anything about September travelers. And of course if I get word from here I will pass it along to the boards.

I got a phone call about 2 week ago saying we had to move. 9/2-9/8/ 07. I got a phone call about a month ago asking me if I wanted to move because DS has autism. Picked the BC. When I found out about the pool( son has sensory issues) and lack of food court I called and was allowed to move back to AKL. Then 2 weks ago we got the call saying we had to move. I did get my choice of resorts. I was told if I waited until check in I may not get my choice of resort .I am glad I did get the call. I am not worried anymore if I will get called or if the noise will spoil my vacation. It was horrible worrying everday if we would be moved.

Oh no! You got the call and you're staying in September?! Well, now I'm really holding my breath. I sure don't want to move but I suppose there is no point in worrying about it. If I get the call, I've already got the resorts narrowed down that I am willing to move to so we'll see.

We are there 9/8 - 9/15. I am hoping that if they do decide to move us early Sept. travelers from AKL that they decide soon. I like to really research our resort before we go, so I need time for that if we are moved Plus, if we are moved, I hope to have some say in where we are moved.

I am looking at it as a positive either way. If we get to stay at AKL, I bet it won't be full at that point and we may have a nice quiet pool and food court. But if we get moved we can try somewhere new (to us) and enjoy a new experience.

Maybe the few days will make a world of difference. For your sake I hope so. But, I would research your 2nd choice so that you don't make the same mistake with the BC I did.

Yes, we are in a Savanna view room so maybe it does make a difference. I just wish they would let us know sooner rather than later.

Oh, I meant to ask - if you had free dining did you lose that when you had to move? I would hate to be told I had to move and lose the free dining as well!

I was told that if I moved to another deluxe resort I would not loose free dinning and would get a room at no extra charge. We picked SSR so I did have to pay for dinning because of the discount rate on the villa. It was still cheaper than our original total. We did still end up getting money back.

Sorry, I got caught up in the moment. I was watching Wl on the travel channel. I promise to post as soon as I get back. You post too. Someday I will get to AKL.
