Just to keep the thread going and to especially Carol/houston, PrejeanPrincess and I run long. Are you all still hanging in there? Are the moves driving you nuts yet?


I am still doing okay and hanging tight for the moment, but I guess we need to come up with what are backup plans might be. The following thread from The Last Princess has a quote that the date is being extended to the end of September for relocating! Could get intersting yet!


Oh well, we will see what happens. It will be a great trip no matter where we end up.

Oh, I hope we don't get asked to move. I have my heart really set on this but I have tried to think positive. I've researched some resorts I would be "willing" to move to but I don't want a great resort and get stuck with a view of a parking lot. We paid to have a view at AKL and I would want a view at another resort as well. Hey, Poly with MK view are you listening to me? We have to pay in full tomorrow so we're committed no matter what - I hope we don't get the call. Hey we've got 46 days to go so it's not all bad.

Thanks for keeping the thread going. We are just watching the drama that is happening on the resort boards and glad we are not involved as yet. I really hope that our pool view/bunkbed rooms will keep us out of harms way. We have been talking about a backup plan....just in case we should get the dreaded call. We will try not to be as upset as some are....but you never know until you are in that position. Some of the upgrades are fantastic....just wonder how crowded the Poly might be. I think we would take our beloved WL or YC (This changes on a daily basis.) Hopefully we won't have to make that decision.

Here is a group hug for everyone and a little good luck wish to all of you . Let's try to stay in touch as much as possible.

Oh, if anyone cares, we have 52 days but who is counting.....I know, I know, SpaceRanger you have 51.

Okay, friends of ours are leaving in 8 days and are staying at WL, but their friends are leaving Sat. and are staying at AKL. I don't know their room cat. but they have not been called yet. So I will have a good report in about a week and a half. (Of course in Disney days, that's like 6 years from now. ) I will definately give an update as soon as I hear something.

So, for now, I am just waiting and praying the caller i.d. doesn't show up with a 407 number.

I really want to have a back up plan, but it is so hard b/c I am really looking forward to AKL. I keep toying with Poly, but I don't think I want the separate building thing, plus the map makes everything look so spread out. I like the idea of the resort being under 1 roof. Plus, when we have been to O'Hanas, I didn't walk in and say "WOW" like I did at WL. I also have to think about the location of the counter service resturant b/c of my DS5. (He has Type 1 diabetes for those of you who don't know.) YC looks appealing, but.........., it's not AKL or WL. WL is great, wonderful, beautiful, but........we have stayed there twice and really wanted to stay somewhere different. So, with all this worring and venting, I am positive we will not be moved from AKL

We are staying a AKL pool view room 9/1-9/8 and have not heard from disney . I called a few weeks back and a representative at first said my reservation would be effected and offered ssr with no free meal plan. I said I don't think so She then put me on hold for 5 min. and then returned stating they were not moving any AKL reservations in Sept at this time. I really hope that stays true. I will keep you all posted since I'm the Sept 1 starter.

Sounds like we have some great reporters just waiting to give us some breaking news. We have maine girl as our number one person on the call list since she is going Sept 1 and ms prejean is going to fill us in on the current state of things when her friend returns!

I sure have not read all the threads, but from what I have seen you might be right carol that your room category has a better chance of staying. We just booked a stnd view so we might be in more trouble. What view did you book maine girl?

I guess we better get serious about what our backup plan might be. But don't really have a good idea since we have not "been". As children both my wife and I went down for just a day or two at Epcot and stayed offsite, so while we have both technically have been that was eons ago and we don't have any info to use for decisions. We could easily shoot for WL since we considered that anyway, but should we try for one of the other deluxes? I was thinking maybe Poly. Guess I have more reading and research to do.

Also carol you are right about the drama. I saw you try to put a sane comment into one of the boards and I can understand why some people are upset, but wow a few are out of control. Hopefully they are just using the boards as a place to vent. I pray that everyone can come to peace with the circumstances, find something that will work and just find joy in their trip. Goodness knows we all have reasons to be upset, but hey lets find the joy and goodness in what we have to be thankful for. I sure know my blessings are great and far more than I could deserve.

And carol did I mention I have one less day than you?

We booked a pool view at the AKL. I will keep you all posted. I will wait until Aug 1 and if I haven't heard anything, I will most likely give another call. I'm like most of you, I really am looking forward to staying at the AKL. We visited the AKL in January and ate at Boma (loved it) and fell in love with the grounds. The WL lobby is really nice, but really wanted the experience of being around the animals. I hope we all get good news.

Hey there fellow AKL-ers! Just thought I'd join the countdown in one of the less-crazy threads about the AKL out here. I am a travel planner and guide, and I'm going Sept. 5-15 with some clients on their honeymoon. I can't wait! I always get so excited for AKL, and I'm really hoping that we won't get the dreaded phone call asking us to move. However, I think it's so important to keep perspective on the whole issue. There are so many mixed messages and confusing back-and-forth on the boards, I'm just trying to see beyond the chatter to maintain my sanity.

I'm also really excited for the DVC construction to wrap up because I want to buy at AKL as soon as it's finished!

So, what are you all most excited for about the AKL? I mean, what makes you all wiggly inside when you think about it? For me, it's the smell of smoked meats and exhotic spices floating up from Boma the moment you walk into the lobby....ahhhhhh

Here I am! Never been to AKL before (only to eat at Boma last year) but was quite taken aback when I saw how much it reminded me of WL. I seriously am biting my nails over the construction issue because I want my DH to be HAPPY where he is staying! As in, he must absolutely fall in love with a Disney resort if I ever hope to get him back here. I thought AKL would be a big help in this. Now he says he'd be thrilled if we got a monorail resort. Well, poo! Now I'm hoping we get moved!

But if we don't, I hope he likes AKL. I'd stay in a CARDBOARD BOX if it belonged to Disney. But I do so love GF. I'm obsessed with that place. I can barely afford to even step foot on GF ground, however.

All in all, I think DIS is a feeding ground for the obsessed (me).

Never been before, but we just know that the 5yo DD will love the animals. She has seen the great hotels show about it and thinks it looks great. but they do not even know we are going so atleast she won't be disappointed if it gets taken away. And I think the whole family just really loves the look and theme of the whole resort. And I love the smell of smoked meat, so perhaps I can look forward to that as well.

DS8 (turns 8 today) will like it too, but if he could just go down for a Star Wars weekend he would be in heaven. I have neglected to mention to him there is such a thing as SW weekend. Maybe some year in the future we can hit that.

Also glad to see The Last Princess has found here way back to the thread. Sounds like she has several more calls to make to figure out where she will be staying. Hang in there girl! I know you guys will have a great Disneymoon, but waiting stinks. Hopefully we will all know the "real" story soon. Too bad that the real story seems to change so frequently.

I'm hoping for the best, however, preparing for the worst. I informed my 2 dtrs that we may have to move. My 11yo understands and would agree to poly, wouldn't mind GF, and would settle for YC/BC. I hope it doesn't come to that, but its nice to know my girls will not be too disappointed. We are still wishing for AKL

I am just so excited because I did finally get a new job!!!! And the best thing - they didn't bat an eyelash when I said, "Oh, but I must have a week off in September." Good thing, too, because if they had, I would not have accepted. I'm just so excited because where I currently am it's lots of weekends and evenings (event planner) and where I am going it's M-F 8:30 - 5:00!!!!!! More money, less work, what could be better!!!!! YIPPEE!!!! Now, if I can just get this little presidential debate we have here on Monday out of the way, I can start the process of shutting down my office. Yes, the democratic debate is being held here on Monday evening. It's why I haven't been able to even look at these boards lately! Sigh. My last hurrah.

So - we are going to the Coral Reef one night for dinner. We booked the diver to hold a sign that says HELLO ANDREW AND COLIN. We also will get personalized menus with our pictures on them!!!! I am so excited. And all for FREE!!!!! Gotta love all those wonderful CMs that are so nice and good at what they do!

And does anyone know when the Travel Channel will run the great hotels show on AKL again?? I haven't seen it and can't find out when it's scheduled to run again. Surely some time before September?

Gosh, I can't wait to start a new job, can't wait to get to AKL......things are going so well, maybe I'll wake up in the morning and will have lost five pounds! HA!

Also hope the debate is going well and by the time you read this I bet you will be 100% glad it is over. Glad you found a job and glad it has better hours and better pay. I did one of those upgrades 2 years ago and it has been great. More time with the family is the best part, but I will take the bump in pay as well. Best wishes on winding down the current one and heading into the next one.

Thought I would look and see if I could find it on the travel channel, but did not see a listing for when it might play again. We have it on our dvr and watch it from time to time. Hopefully it will come back into rotation.

My wife called this afternoon to say that the luggage tags had showed up. I did not expect them so soon, but it did give us something to be excited about.

Hi There - Think you will need to ask, the bunks we've had weren't equippped with preventative measures. Perhaps you should ask beforehand, and if not available from the resort, you could buy a small pad and bring it along when you come.
