AKL CL vs. WL CL

I just booked two rooms at AKL, and for the first time booked Club Level.

We won't be doing the dining plan this year. I have a very picky eater coming along, and I just can't see him eating $55 worth of food a day. I figured the munchies in the concierge lounge would be a nice buffer in between meals and in particular the morning, since we're fanatical about rope drop.

I've been to AKL bunches of times for dinner, but I've never stayed there. We usually stay at WL or the Polynesian. The Polynesian was waaaay higher in price for CL, and I'm concerned about it being under construction in 06/13 anyway. What I thought was odd though, was the the WL was higher as well. Not by much, so it wouldn't be a big deal to switch it.

Which one has the better concierge lounge between the two, keeping in mind I will have a picky eater with me. Will the AKL's offerings be too exotic?

Well, you already know how great WL is! :thumbsup2 We just finished a 10 night stay in their CL and it was fantastic! Food choices were good, including BBQ chicken skewers, venison chili, venison meatballs, scallops wrapped in bacon....mind you, I had never eaten venison before, in my life, but it was DELICIOUS!!!!

We haven't done AKL, but I really believe that the WL CL staff is top-notch! Plus, you'll get a newly rennovated room. How can that be wrong? :goodvibes

See... that sounds SO good. I'm worried that the AKL may get food from Boma, and if that's the case, I may have trouble on my hands. I love it... my son, not so much.

Hmmmm... food for thought. Pun intended.

I haven't done WL but I did AK in 2009. Breakfast was normal and the snacks, but the evening offerings were definitely unique and African.

We have loved WL club level and have another stay planned for next summer! I am a pretty picky eater but I found something every night to munch on. You might also be able to move to a deluxe room at WL instead of getting two rooms and that could save you a bit of money?

We've stayed WL CL and it was amazing :thumbsup2. We've stayed at AKL before, but not CL. With that said, I have read nothing but great things about AKL CL, so that is one we definitely want to try ;).

So far we have six people coming, with the possibility of eight.

I spoke to my husband about the differences between the two yesterday, and without any prompting he said he didn't want exotic food in the lounge. I didn't even get the word 'meatball' out, when I was mentioning the WL's venison meatballs, and his eyes lit up.

I think I know what I have to do! Either stay non-CL ay the AKL, or switch to WL CL.

I have one question though - are there regular balconies, or are all of the WL CL balconies solid?

If you get a standard WL CL room, you will be on the 7th floor and have a solid balcony.

By the size of your party, it looks like you may consider a deluxe CL room that allows 6 - they are located throughout the WL on other floors and you could get a normal balcony.

Nothing to say about the offerings itself, but when we did an adults only trip to the BC CL, the food was the perfect amount of food for us! As long as you make sure you utilize it every morning and evening, it's worth it. In fact, at night the apps were enough of a dinner for us!

Good to know. I definitely don't want a solid balcony.

The BC is pricing out so much higher! It makes me sad, because I would love to try an Epcot resort.
