I have a client who is flying to Latvia on a mission trip. One of the things she is doing is knitting baby blankets for babies. We were wondering, can she take knitting needles of any kind on an airplane?

I would think not, but she should probably call the airline just to make sure.

I would say not in carry-on luggage. She could probably put them in her checked luggage.

Check on page 2. It says knitting needles are permitted. I wonder if the screeners have actually read this though.

TSA website

she will have to put them in the check in luggage, be brought knives, for fishing- had to put them in our checked in luggage

Believe it or not, Knitting Needles were not on the restricted list (after 9/11) They might have changed it, but last few times I flew, they were OK!!!!
