Question...

We are flying AirTran. We will be heading to the Contemporary Resort for dinner when our 24-hour window opens for check-in for our flight home. We *really* want to purchase as many business class upgrades as possible (up to 9, if available) so checking in EXACTLY at 24 hours is paramount. Our dinner reservation is at 5pm and our 24-hour window opens at 4:15pm so we more than likely will not yet be at the resort. We should be able to use our phones (1 Android, 1 Blackberry and 1 iPhone) to check in on the go which leads to my question. Will we still be able to receive our boarding passes from RAC, even if we have already checked in for our flight?

TIA!

Yes, you can do this. Southwest fliers do this all the time because checking in 24 hours in advance is an advantage if you forgo purchasing their Early Bird Check-In option.

When RAC goes to access your itinerary they will just see that your boarding passes are already available. In some cases the passes will be delivered to your room early before you visit the RAC counter with your luggage. This has happened to me every time with SWA so far.

Yes we did this before, checked in from the room or wherever at the 24-hour mark, then assumed we'd go to RAC the next morning to get the printed passes. As the OP stated, ours were delivered to our room & were slid under the door when we got up that next day.
