Air Miles tickets upgrade

I'm planning on selling my universal tickets that I got through the Air Miles program to a friend. I want him to be able to upgrade them in the park if he wants from 2 day to 3 day. Is this possible with tickets acquired through Air Miles?

We upgraded Universal tickets that we got through Air Miles over a year ago to annual passes with no issues in January. (At the time we could have added an extra day for no cost as there was a buy two days get the third free special for Canadians at that time.)

We went to guest services inside the gate before the end of the second day.
