Hello!
I was wondering if anyone has recently done the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian and if so can you give me a review of your experience?

Thank you!

:confused3 Just realized where I posted this. Feel free to bump me over to the restaurant board.

Thanks! :badpc:

It was GREAT!

We did it as a birthday present for a friend of ours who is from England but lives here, because she went above and beyond for our wedding.

We made a PS but still had a 20 minute wait. We also took my 8 year old son and he loved it as well. We all did the tea that was 24.50 (sorry I do not remember the name) but the food was excellent as was the tea. I had the cinnamon tea (it reminded me of red hots; the candy). Our friend had black currant, and my wife had the house specialty which she did not like because it was plain tea. She switched to peppermint and liked that bettre. The kids get Mrs. Potts Tea (chocolate milk). Yes you can get seconds on the tea.

It was very leisurely and we were full when we left.

My Mom and I did it a little over a year ago and we loved it. I had such a good time that I am recreating the whole menu for my daughter's 3 year Birthday party this weekend.
I forget the name of the menu I chose but it came with the most delicious tea sandwiches, scones, black currant tea, pastries and some little jam tarts. It was sooooo good.
I think I will do it again in October if I can convince my husband. :Pinkbounc

Do a search on the Restaurants board. There are lots of reviews there. I did not see one bad review. We are going on our October trip, and are looking forward to it!

DH and I enjoyed tea in May. My hubby is a regular guy's guy, but he actually enjoyed it. We had the GF blend tea, the Buckignham Palace Tea and the Cheese Plate. Plenty of food for a late lunch. My favorite tea sandwich was the stilton with roasted pear, and there were chicken salad, shrimp, watercress and a tiny caramelized onion tart. Scones were delicious, all of the cheeses & fruit were wonderful, and we ended with the miniature pastries.

It was better than the tea I had at Harrods 11 years ago.

I just went to the tea last week. I try to go each time I'm in WDW. I had the Buckingham Palace, I chose the Gardenview Bouquet tea, I had the tea sandwiches with the carmalized onion tart all were very good, then you get a scone with devonshire cream and raspberry jam and a jam tart, then you have a choice of pasteries, strawberries with cream or trifle, I chose the trifle
Everything was delious. The whole experience is so relaxing. My reservation was for 3:20 and I went right in, there was a gentleman playing the piano in the GF lobby which was a nice touch too.

Very nice.

We had tea at the gf to celebrate my wife's b-day. We did the grand tea(I think thats what it was called) tea, champagne with strawberries, sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, english trifle(I'm pretty sure I've spelled that wrong), and pastries. To tell the truth, I have to admit that I was not looking forward to going to the tea ( I thought it would be a bit of a bore) but I was pleasently surprised. The food and service were excellent and it made for a relaxing break from the parks. I would highly recomend it and I look forward to going back myself.

Thanks for all the great reviews of the GF Tea! My husband and I will be going for the first time this October and are looking forward to it! :flower3:

The tea sounds great! We have a reservation for Oct. and i can't wait!

Just one ques. for those of you who have gone before - is it more formal than park wear? We were planning to just head over from the Magic Kingdom, or should we wear something a little nicer?

TIA,

denise

I did the tea in Ocotber 2004 and we wore your basic park attire...we came from the MK after doing the KTTK tour.

I have seen people with pictures of people eatting chocolate mousse filled swans and fruit tarts etc. Are thos ala cart?? What if you order like the buckingham tea can you still chose some of those ala cart?? Am I making any sense??? :rotfl2: I just want to eat those chocolate swans lol. PLease explian the "procedure" lol for tea. ANd yes I am an type A planner :maleficen

We also have a reservation for Oct. Oct 5 were taking my mom before she flys home. Its our 75th birthday present to her we hope she likes it

I read that the Garden View Lounge is open from 2-4:30p.m. Does that mean the last reservation they take for the tea is at 4:30, or does it actually close at that time and the reservation needs to be made b4 that? :confused3

One of our favorite memories from last trip! I had the Grand tea, DH had the Prince Edward tea. We both loved it and were SO full at the end! Much more food than what it appears!
