Just come back from an afternoon in A&E!

Youngest DD fell on her neck in PE this morning, and even after complaining of neck pain to the PE teacher he just told her to 'see if it feels better later'!
Eventually DD was taken to reception and they called DW. She called the local doctors surgery, but they couldn't see her until 4:30pm and the doctors had finished surgery for the morning!
So I came home and took her straight to A&E in Nuneaton. After a 2 hour wait we finally got to see someone. Half an hour later the doctor examined her and decided to try some pain killers first before getting an X-ray. Another half an hour for the pain killers to work, but DD was still in pain so the doctor now decided it would be best to get an x-ray and immobilise DDs neck. It was a bit worrying seeing DD in a neck brace with her head taped to the trolley!
After two X-rays the doctor gave her the all clear

She's a bit stiff and will need to take pain killers for the next few days, but it's a big relief to know she is ok :sunny:

Glad to hear that your DD is ok, I can't believe what the teacher said! I would be very angry with them!

:grouphug: Hope she feels better soon

When I saw your post Tim, I was worried that you'd been run over by your label dispenser (re Crimbo cards :rotfl: )

But seriously, I'm pleased your DD is okay, it's such a worry when they get an injury like that. I've had a couple of visits to A & E in Nuneaton (I only live 5 mins away luckily enough) with the kids and they're always friendly in there. Hopefully Dad is being kind and treating her to get well gifts and McDonalds for tea for being a brave girl :)

Tim, So glad your DD has been given the all clear, :flower: what a worry.

Tim hope your DD is making a quick recovery and shes not in too much pain. Plenty of sympathy and treats from her dad should do the trick :) I'm surprised at the PE teachers response :guilty:

Tim, glad she's OK. Hope you're making a big fuss of her :) I'm very surprised, in today's climate, that the school didn't take it slightly more seriously - thank God she wasn't badly hurt.

Good grief Tim that must have been very scary! Thank goodness she is going to be okay.

Glad everythings ok Tim....what a worry!

Glad everyone is ok, A few treats will raise her spirits in no time!

Glad your DD ia ok Tim. Me thinks she will need some TLC for the next few days and it sounds as though the teacher could be doing with a good talking to

Glad your DD is okay

I hope you'll tell the PE teacher how concerned the hospital was and all the 'checks' they carried out.

Hope she is better soon mate - it is a long wait at A&E though isn't it , especially as children are supposed to get examined first.

Teachers should realise the consequences of accidents that happen at school, especially PE teachers.

Glad to hear it wasn't serious, hope she feels better soon :goodvibes

Glad she's ok Tim - must've been a bit of a worry for a while for you.

I am so pleased that you DD was given the all clear. I have done lifeguard training and I know that neck problems can be a real worry. Pleanty of TLC will be needed, plus chocolate and ice-cream and day time tv. I hope she gets better soon! :grouphug: to you all
