Don't laugh! I'm obviously "a mess," LOL!

Am I crazy to think I can do a cruise, with the phobias listed above? Has anyone else this phobic managed to have fun on a big ship?

Thanks!

Dodie, the heights thing is a non-issue on the cruise ship, there really is nothing that will trigger a fear of heights.

As for fear of water, do you mean you fear swimming? Or does the sight of a large body of water bother you? You can certainly avoid swimming, or swim only in shallow areas, but there's no getting around that you will be on a large body of water. If that bothers you, then you may have a problem.

LOTS of people are prone to motion sickness and they enjoy cruising -- they just take appropriate sea sickness precautions (I recommend over-the-counter Bonine) and they're FINE. The motion on the ship is so minimal usually that most people don't need any medication at all.

So the only issue here would be the water, and if that's not too severe, then you'll be fine. :)

Nope. It's just swimming. Although I can swim if I have to, I refuse to go in water over my head. I love to look out at the ocean and large lakes and have been on smaller boats with a "little" discomfort, but nothing like I would have if someone threw me in the water, LOL.

Thanks for the reassurance.

You might want to try a 3-day Wonder cruise. You'll probably do just fine. Just don't book doing hurricane season. You don't want to get caught in a big storm.

Dodie you will be fine, the water in Castaway Cay is shallow except for when you go into the deep parts, that's a personal choice but the pools are all shallow. As far as the heights you will be fine too, nothing seems 'very' high at all, take it from me , I'm not too thrilled with heights either.
The motion sickness , that's another story but my advice is take whatever medication works for you , I took dramamine and never needed it, the sea was just perfect and only one day we felt a slight motion but nothing that would make me sick.
Enjoy your cruise, I know we loved our cruise!!

Dodie,
I think I would take a Dinner cruise first to see how you feel. I would hate for you to get out to sea and be miserable.

My mom is afraid of heights, too, and we've been trying to get them to go on a cruise with us - so I was paying close attention when we went in December. I think the only problem would be if you got close to the rail on an outside deck or maybe near the atrium on one of the upper floors. These are the 2 spots I was worried my mom would have problems with.
On other cruise lines, sometimes you have to walk across a pretty high gangway to get on the ship in some ports, but that's not a problem with DCL. You are enclosed when getting on at Port Canaveral and at all the other ports the gangway is way down on deck one!
