Have heard conflicting reports on the level of difficulty for booking LLs for large families.

Some say it makes no difference as long as you are under the max 20 group size, as the available LL is a “booking group” that doesn’t discriminate between a party of 1 or a party of 10.

Others have said that in practice it seems to be harder to book once over a group of 4.

What is the truth? Particularly for cancelations rather than batches of same day new drops.

If actually harder, ill divide the task to me and one of my children and split us into two groups of 4, but hoping to avoid this.

I need advice on this as well. I will be planning for a group of 11, and there's no way anyone else is going to be able to do the planning and booking. Disneyland vet but haven't been to Disneyworld since 2019 and 2010.

I did the planning for a party of 7 using both LLMP & LLSP over Spring Break. I didn’t have trouble reserving what we wanted but I did get up early at the 7 day mark and had a plan on what days to reserve what I wanted. While at WDW, it was EXTREMELY stressful keeping an eye out for additional ride openings and getting them quickly reserved. I have always enjoyed the planning and using the free fastpasses, etc. in previous times, but I have to admit that interacting with the phone app constantly was more than annoying and I don’t plan to do it again for a large group. Everyone loved the trip and got to ride everything they wanted. And they never even realized how much work it was for the person who keeps the plates spinning (which I guess is good. 😉🤪)

No it is not hard if you have the 7 day advance purchase window. You want to focus on your MK, and HS days first. It gets a little harder during Holiday periods like Thansgiving, Christmas or during a couple of weeks of Spring break.

Same day addition attractions may be hit or miss during the busy periods I mentioned above to get 8 additional LLMP same day.

You don't want to split into 2 groups of 4, and then try to overlap your return times. If you think you need to split you LLMP and/or LLSP days. Alternate parks days would be a better split. And if you chose to spilt your LLMP and/LLSP purchase use 2 different MDE Accounts, and different payment methods.

I wouldn’t split groups because when you are trying to snag your additional rides at the park you have to be fast…being able to “select all” and then immediately continue helped me more than once get the ride. If I had to select each person on the party, I would not have been fast enough.

Let me clarify my post. I was asking primarily about "day of" availability to modify and book new LLs for a party of 8. Ie If a LL for TBA pops up, is it a "booking group" that could be seen by a group of 1 or group of 8? If I change my party from 8 to 4 will I see earlier return times. Many have posted no, but I'd love some actual reports.

I don’t have an answer. Whenever a ride pops up, speed is the only thing that matters during busy times. When I selected 3 out of our group rather than “select all” which was 7, I was not fast enough and someone else grabbed the ride LL. I never had a bunch of times to choose from on “day of”….you are fighting for whatever pops up. After you get it, you can go back in and “maybe” change the time if someone else releases something.

We had a party of eight in January 4-10. The parks weren't jammed, but I would say crowded. We booked our initial SP and MP seven days out. We got everything we wanted. I did write down every ride we wanted and back up rides, so we didn't waste time while booking.

Then, during our actual park days, we were able to book additional rides. We had no problem getting what we wanted. I had a paper with the order of the rides we wanted to do, so that we knew exactly what to book next.

We did rope drop (did the early 1/2 hour), which I would say helped us get the rides we wanted.

We usually have groups of 6-10 and I haven't had any issues so far. Went with 10 people in July-Aug and got everything we wanted with booking in advance. The problem becomes when you want to book more rides later, but I think that is just normal and no headliners are available later in the day for most party sizes unless you book in advance.
