I'm not a DVC member and i'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.

I'd like to get a studio, preferably for the second week of Feb 2004 at either the BWV or BCV. Should i rent points or take over someone elses already existing reservation?

If i rented the points what's the chance of me being able to get a studio in that area?

Would love any advice or thoughts.

Since it is only three months away, I would take the already existing reservation if it is for exactly what you want. It may be difficult to get another one. But if you could get another and the price per point was the same, it really wouldn't make a difference.

The only thing that may matter is that all of the rooms at the BCV are the same number of points for the sake of a reservation. At the BWV you may have a choice between Boardwalk view, preferred view (pool or gardens) or standard view (less points, looks out at the driveway).

Good luck.

Either way, you will really be renting a reservation made with points- the points are of no use to anyone but a DVC member.

You'll need to post the dates, room type and resort you want on the Rent/Trade Board and see if someone can provide a reservation for you- either an existing one (the name can be changed to yours) or a new reservation made in your name.

Either way, the reservation needs to made in your name.

Good Luck!
