Advice please...

Hello I am a watcher from the WDW side of the boards and I would like to see if anybody can offer me some advice about a possible DLR trip. I have posted this to the DLR part of the forum as well.

My daughter has some invisible issues that make going away from mom very hard to do. Even though she is an adult we still live together and play together too.

Having been frequent visitors to WDW we decided that going there alone would be a great place to try a solo vacation. I work for a hotel company and get great rates and I knew that everywhere she was going I would be able to picture in my head. We talked a lot while she was away and while there were bumps the good defiantly outweighed the bad.

So my questions are that now I am thinking that a solo trip to DLR might be a good step for her. Some what similar, but she would have new transportation issues and I am not sure when the HM overlay happens (this is a must do for the trip to happen). Any one agree that it would be familiar yet new enough for her to fell like we made a fun big step?

I am torn between WDW again (hopefully with a party and the new Animal Kingdom Tour) or a new DLR trip or nothing right now. I don't even want to tell her yet, as sometimes making a decision is extremely hard for her.

I have done both but am much more familar with WDW. I have some neuro issues from my MS. The only thing I can tell you, is that I was a bit discombobulated because things were slightly different. It was actually a little more difficult to get (and keep) my bearings. I have alot of difficultly with telling left from right and reading a map (have trouble translating what is on the paper into what is reality).

HI! As Cheshire Figment said, I am about 6 miles away from DL, so I am answer quite a few questions.

Unlike WDW, if you stay in a Disney resort, there is no need for buses. You just walk to the parks. If you stay in an area resort, there are Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) buses everywhere, but you have to pay (I think a dollar) for them. Many resorts, such as Hojos, are also within walking distance

The HM overlay start the middle to end of Sept and stays up through the holidays.

It is a little weird transitioning from WDW to DL, but everything in DL is much closer together, which I found very helpful for my stamina!

I am still thinking about sending her and now that I am waiting to hear about the HM overlay and the Halloween party I think I am making myself more antsy and anxious.

I have bookings at the Sheraton Park Hotel and are now getting worried about transportation to the hotel and to and from the parks.

I am also debating the GAC card. As I wrote earlier she might be to nervous to go and get one and I not even sure how it could help her. She does get issues from the sun, stairs on occasion and from tight crowds, but she might feel bad if she misses the themeing in the stand-by lines.

Speaking about crowds I have used Touring plans before and now that they have a DLP version I am thinking about up grading. Has anyone used it before?

Lastly, I recently looked through a 2009 Unofficial Guide Book and found little there that I think she would 'have to do'. Is there a link to somewhere that might tell me what is new and what might be new by the ending of this year?
