advice on dinner w/illumin. cruise?

I am hoping that some of you experts might have some advice on dining & doing an illumination cruise the same night.

A person in our party is really looking forward to eating in Italy. DH & I are really looking forward to an illumination cruise. So, I was wondering if it is possible/practical to do them on the same evening. The other option is to do lunch in Italy, then the cruise that night.

Also, what time should I book the cruise for in order to see illuminations.

Any & all suggestions appreciated!

Edited - just saw the illuminations thread, so forget the question about what time to book. According to that 8pm.

You can absolutely do them on the same evening..........after dinner at Italy, you just stroll out through the International Gateway (Epcot's back door) and head over to the docks at the Yacht Club for your boat.........

If you have to be at the dock at 8pm, I'd book dinner for 6'ish to give you some time to get to the boat by 8pm.....

I'd do a late lunch/early dinner in Italy so you don't feel rushed. Then you can either wander around Epcot, or head to the Boardwalk for maybe some dessert/shopping??

When we did this, we ate at ESPN, then strolled over to the dock for our cruise.
