Here is our intinerary and the dilemma to go along with it :scratchin

Saturday: Arrive at POFQ, chill out at the pool, relax
Sunday: Animal Kingdom, PS at Breakfastasaurus
Monday: Magic Kingdom, dinner PS at Crystal Palace
Tuesday: Pool day, PS at 1900 Park Fare for DD and me, ESPN club for DH and DS
Wednesday: MGM, no PS yet
Thursday: Magic Kingdom, no PS yet
Friday: Pool day and DTD, PS at House of Blues for dinner
Saturday: our last day, flight leaves Orlando at 7:00 pm.

It is me, DH, DD 3 and DS 5. What should we do the last day of the trip???

DH wants to go to Animal Kingdom again because DS loves it so much. But I'm thinking that by the time we get out of the hotel, get to AK, and then have to leave by 4 to get to the airport and have dinner, it's not going to be worth it. What else could we do for the last day? I really want it to be a Disney location, also, to end the vacation. Any ideas? :flower:

When we rent a car we do a park and leave from the park. Usually Magic Kingdom.

If we don't rent a car, we tend to stay at the resort on the last day.

We do have a car.

How long can you stay at a resort after you have checked out, though? And I'm assuming there would be no place to shower, right? We're at POFQ.

We always go to the parks one last time on our last day. Even if we have a 3:00 flight. We just go for a few hours. We eat an early breakfast and then head to the park we want to do one last time. We don't eat our lunch or dinner there, unless our flight leaves later than 6 pm. Otherwise, we grab something at the airport. Much less harried that way.
So, you could go to AK and eat lunch there and leave around 2ish. Head back to your resort (assuming you will be using a shuttle service to get to airport), freshen up, and then leave around 4ish.

Sometimes, if we have been in WDW for more than 8 days, we will forgo the last day park, especially if we leave mid-afternoon, and have a nice character breakfast around 9 or so and then head to the pool for a relaxing swim. Then shower and change and off to the airport.

I always hate the last day at WDW! However, we have done both choices. We've stayed around the resort - they do have a changing area by the pool, but I'm not sure about showers. You are allowed to be there until you need to leave for the airport, but you just need to be checked out by (I think) 11am. We have also gone to one of the parks on our departure day. There is plenty of time with a 7pm flight to do a few final attractions, especially at AK and since you're driving and don't have to truck back to the resort to catch Mears. From the looks of your schedule, Friday shouldn't be too much of a hectic day, so if you feel up to it, pack up the night before and hit AK in the morning! Have a great trip! :goodvibes
