Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hey guys! I didn't know this thread existed as I "camp out" on the Camping and Dining threads most of the time...I did make the panel.:cloud9:

I've read all 223 pages :surfweb: on this thread! And have especially enjoyed getting to "know" those who I'll meet in a few weeks.

But most importantly, I am in AWE of those of you who did not make it to future rounds and yet, cheered your fellow dissers on. (I didn't tell many of my friends I had applied because I didn't want to have to explain if I didn't make it)....Boy, it would have been great to have this cheering section. It was heart-warming to read this thread from the beginning, knowing the end, and see your commraderie.

Congratulations to my fellow panelists and I look forward to meeting you, especially Diane. Thank you for letting me know y'all were chatting.

Congratulations and welcome! What is your name, and where are you from?

That was fun! Thanks for sharing. :)

Great interview - I just finished and enjoyed it. Good news for the new Mom's Panel.

Thanks for the alert, Bret! Excellent podcast!

Bret thanks for the heads up on the podcast, I'm listening to it now

Thanks for listening. It was a lot of fun to record it.

I really think Van has a great podcast and a very entertaining format. I was so torn with the podcast awards, so I alternated every other day between WDW Radio Show and Netcot (WDW Radio won, again).;)

For those who weren't able to listen, the "news" I shared on the podcast was that the current panel has been given the option to participate in ~3-month periods during 2009. So approximately each quarter next year, 3-4 of us might be joining the 2009 gang. Not sure yet about any more details.

Current Moms . . . I have a random question that I've been wondering about -when planning our recent trip a several weeks ago I noticed that the dates that once appeared after the question askers name disappeared, and I was wondering why? It's really not important, but just something I noticed and was curious about . . .

I am also wondering if any of you will be travelling to Disney as well during the new panels training? That would be fun . . . I've enjoyed reading through everyone's excitement here. Naturally I am sad I am not destined to be one of the moms this go around, but I hope that I will have the opportunity to apply again next year.

I don't know about why the dates are not appearing, but Bri, Beth and myself will all be there for the 2009 Panel training in December. Laura is a CM now so of course she will be tehre as well, and I believe that Bret and Michelle may both be there for at least part of that time as well. Also Beatrice lives a few hours away, so there may be a chance she would be able to come up. :)

Hi everyone, have been keeping an eye on all you lucky panel members, the excitement is bubbling, it must be so wonderful to be part of this now.

I have a question for anyone who was a finalist but didn't make it to the panel.....

Have you received any emails from Disney since that phone call last Wednesday? I got the impression we would receive an email, but I've seen nothing. I didn't get the email which said when we would hear who had made it to the panel either. Starting to wonder if my email address has been wiped from their system !

Could all of you bottle up your excitement and send to the rest of us? :)

We feel it though!!!!!

Just in case, I would start a journal...capture everything in this wonderful experience!!!!! (in case no on has yet....)

CONGRATULATIONS 2009 DISNEY MOMS PANEL!

Well, we always had the feeling we had lurkers...and I think you are right...I bet one or two more will appear before long.

That's interesting! How exciting. I don't know how to listen to the podcast, so I'm a bit in the dark here, so forgive me if you answered this ? there, but were any of the finalists named "Alternates" that would be called in when someone decided to wrap up....or does that account for the added 4 from the current numbers?

I can't imagine anyone would only want to do it for 3 months, but those of you who've lived it would know, did many of the current panelists feel "burnt out" after a bit?

OK, so here is where we stand to date.

Most of us are just now getting flights arranged, and while we don't have a hard and fast schedule for our time there, we do know this;

Friday: Starting at 4:30 with a meet and greet and dinner. Probably going to Applebee's, don't you think?

Saturday: No info

Sunday and Monday: All-day training sessions and photo shoot.

Tuesday: Flying home.

Needless to say I said get me there as early as possible, and fly me home as late as possible! Got to soak in all the magic while I can!

The 16 of us are linked up via facebook sharing details and just getting to know each other. Trying to memorize the faces to the names. A few planning on meeting up for lunch or a fun afternoon if they arrive early enough on Friday. That is about it.

Not a great amount of detail, but thought you might be interested.

I have my flights organised, they're allowing me to fly in on the Thursday as due to the 9.5 hour flight and the 5 hour time difference I would have fallen asleep at our first meet :rotfl:

Hi everyone...as you can imagine it has been an exciting week since the news came in. Most of us now have our flights confirmed and we are so excited to begin our journey. My flight home on Tuesday is late in the day so I am thrilled to have some time to soak up some last minute Disney and I am sure re-live a weekend of fun and new friends.

How exciting that everyone is getting their flights arranged now! :cheer2:

I'm sure there has been talk of what to wear. Just have fun with the photo shoot! Rest up before you go. And give hugs to my wonderful 2008 Moms and Dad that will be attending too. They will be a tremendous resource if you have any questions. Most of all, enjoy the magic!

I have fun news that Laura and Leanne are allowing me to share now:
Last week I was offered a position on the Moms Panel for 2009 but serving as the Disney Cruise Line Panelist. It's a new venture for the MP and DCL!!

I love pixie dust!

Doug - thanks for keeping us posted on all of the Panel's activities!!! You assumed right in thinking we'd be interested!;)

I loved reading all about last year's training from this year's Panelists and I am looking forward to hearing all about the new adventures this year! :goodvibes

Be sure to take lots of pictures you guys!!! We want full reports (without any "inside" or "top secret" info of course) when you get back!

And Kim - congrats on your new position! That is wonderful news. :goodvibes How nice for you and what a great idea! I think there is a considerable Disney fan base who have never done a cruise and will likely have a ton of questions for you. (Hopefully there is a new Panelist who has done some crusin' who can eventually step in to help you out as I predict you are going to be busy!!!;) )
