I'm a lurker on this thread, but all ears net has it up. Free admission to WDW and DL on your birthday along with the ability to plan special things to celebrate your special days.

:welcome: MMmomto5! I was a lurker for most of last year, too. It's fun to come out of "lurkdom" isn't it!

Yeah...no fair!!! :rotfl2:

No, it was a geographic segmentation. These gals all live in the NY/NJ/North East area (Laura is the farthest, as she lives in MA).

The rest of us received a nice token gift via FedEx today. :thumbsup2

Bret, are you allowed to share with us what the token was that you received, please and thank you?

So Erin, I have to ask, today was a day that you will never forget, wasn't it? You are having the most AMAZING time, aren't you?

And to my fellow DIS-ers:

We all know what we want to Celebrate next year, don't we? I know I do!

Here's wishing us some extra pixie dust!!!:wizard:

I have to agree....what a great day all of you had in NYC!

Me with my own personalized celebration cake. Again, how cool is that!

Wow, look at your cake, it literally has your name all over it! They gave everyone personalized cakes? That is so cool!:wizard:

Hi All,

Disney certainly knows how to make a Mom feel special!

Erin

Erin,

Your day looks like it was incredible! I'm so glad that you (and the other moms) have been given such great opportunities to participate!

It looks like the whole experience has been a dream come true!

Actually, this has been the year of a lifetime.

In addition to tangible rewards and countless priceless experiences, the Moms Panel has given me, well, me. I have been a stay-at-home mom for more than 10 years. During that time my kids have grown and flourished, but I sort of forgot what it was like to be part of something larger than my own backyard. The opportunity to interact with such amazing people and to be taken seriously by them (mostly :) ) has given me self-confidence that I never knew I had. Ironically, I needed the Moms Panel to show me that there was someone other than "Mom" in there.

The Celebration theme will be amazing for the new Panelists to share, but 2008 will always be the year that my million dreams came true, thanks to the Moms Panel.

I am so glad, too; all of the Panelists certainly deserve every bit of their fun! They have helped bring magic and peace of mind to so many vacationers. The 2008 Moms Panel sure has set the bar high!

Magic2go/Kathie: Thanks so much for posting pics of your surprise. I'm in Cleveland, OH for a conference and my husband just called and said I got a package from DIsney. No clue what it was, cause I hadn't been on dis since I got here on Tuesday, so I knew nothing about the announcement. But he described exactly the pictures you posted....so now I have a visual of what they will look like tomorrow night when I get home..WOOHOO! Very very exciting. I love Disney! I'm on the new web page featured, so I guess that's why we got them....how incredible!

Thanks and good luck to everyone on the new Mom's Panel 2009!!!

Hi All,

I had a VERY exciting day in NYC. Moms Laura, Beth, Michelle, and I got to attend the big announcement of the 2009 Disney Parks promotion: "What Will You Celebrate?" Lots of press and Disney bigwigs were there, including the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse.

We had a great lunch, learned about the theme, saw a new Celebration ad which will begin running on TV next week. (Watch with a box of tissues next to you.) The event was wonderful, complete with characters and a real balloon drop. (I always wanted to be in one of those!)

The Moms had pieced together a bit about "Celebrations" replacing "Year of a Million Dreams," but we had no idea about the free birthday bonus. When they announced this, I literally blurted out, "Oh my Gosh, how cool is that!"

After the event, Mickey and the biggest security contingent I have ever seen (and I say this as a person who been in the West Wing of the White House more than once), walked with a giant balloon bouquet into the middle of Times Square. Mickey hugged a few kids who happened to be there and passed out balloons. So cute.

Here are few photos.

Wow! What fun! Thanks, Erin, for posting all of the great photos and details.

A few follow-up questions:
-Where in NYC did Disney stage the press event/luncheon?
-And, how far in advance did you Moms know about it?
-Finally, was CMO Justin Muchoney also in attendance? ('cuz that might explain his latest status report in facebook. He said he was heading to NYC...)

Thanks. 'Just curious... (You know me! ;) )

Erin, Thanks for letting all of us get a peak into your day! Great photos. I used to live in Bergen County and my hubby used to work right around the corner from Times Square. Seeing those pics of the NYC streets made me miss it a bit! Again, thanks! It sure gave me a boost of excitement of things to look forward to next year.

The event was at the Edison Ballroom (next to the Edison Hotel) on 47th Street just off Broadway ... steps away from Times Square. Beth, Michelle, and I were invited to "an event" about six weeks ago, but we had no details about what it was.

And to answer your last question:

Awesome!!! :teeth: Thanks for your reply!

(Oh, and speaking of needing a box of Klennex nearby [to watch the new "Celebrations" commercial]: Your earlier, heartfelt post about rediscovering yourself was pretty much a tearjerker, too... ::yes:: )

This is so true! I don't know how I can both know this to be true, and still be constantly amazed and surprised by the WDW-related things I see and do. The people of WDW are AMAZING! :smickey:

I hear 'ya!

The other thing I really love about Disney: It generally leaves me with an emotional high... (I mean, just reread Erin's earlier post about her year of personal discovery. Just try not to cry during the upcoming commercial. ;) )

Somehow -- for better or for worse ;) -- Disney manages to take hold of our emotions. ...which probably explains the passionate fan base. ::yes::
