Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

The announcement of the new 2009 promotion couldn't have come at a better time. I needed a little diversion to keep my finger nails in tact. The biting has them down to almost nothing as I sit and anxiously await to hear if I might be a lucky finalist for the Mom's Panel. My hopes are dim as I still worry that local yocals are not really attractive to Disney...for whatever reason.
And yet, I am not completely satisfied because I have a big birthday coming this Sunday and I don't even get to partake in some of the super exciting birthday fun that they will be offering until next year I am rounding the 4th turn on my 20's and taking the checkered flag at my twenty ten birthday. Around my house, it is not called 30! So, I have decided I will live vicariously through my husband in January for his twenty ten and plan a first rate "What will you celebrate?" day. He wants to skydive - think Mickey might jump tandem with him?? Although I think he might prefer Jasmine or Ariel...Wonder what that would cost - LOL!

I am so immersed in Disney news, announcements and excitement right now, when I sneeze - I swear I see pixie dust! Ewwwww

PS. I am still spending my birthday around the Disney parks this Sunday. DH and I are going sans our little man (2) so I can shake off the stroller pushing, diaper bag toting, inevitable chicken finger and french fry lunch duties and exchange them for some be there before the crack of Florida dawn, hope they pick us to open the park, eat a fancy danish and espresso breakfast, ride my faves at all 4 parks then reminisce about my wonderful 20+10 years of life in Mexico with a super sized margarita good times. Even though we are at the parks twice a month, I still can't think of any place I would rather celebrate!! KUDOS marketing team for what will certainly be a very successful promotion!

PSS. Do you think I could ask for a spot on the Mom's Panel for my birthday?

Actually, this has been the year of a lifetime.

In addition to tangible rewards and countless priceless experiences, the Moms Panel has given me, well, me. I have been a stay-at-home mom for more than 10 years. During that time my kids have grown and flourished, but I sort of forgot what it was like to be part of something larger than my own backyard. The opportunity to interact with such amazing people and to be taken seriously by them (mostly ) has given me self-confidence that I never knew I had. Ironically, I needed the Moms Panel to show me that there was someone other than "Mom" in there.

The Celebration theme will be amazing for the new Panelists to share, but 2008 will always be the year that my million dreams came true, thanks to the Moms Panel.

I am guessing there will be some sort of press release that states the number of applicants they received. Something like, "This panel of 16...came from a pool of approx. XX,XXX applicants..."

# of applicants, I would say is about (and with my love for the price is right I had a hankering to put $ in front of my guess )

I sure hope anyone who wants to be part of the Mickey Moms Club has applied to the Moms Panel by now (or gets off their you-know-what today!!!). Call me mean (I'm used to it, my kids do it all of the time! ), but I'm not going to feel sorry for anyone who says "I didn't realize I needed to apply for the Moms Panel to be part of the Mickey Moms Club", but I know we'll be reading that kind of post a lot in 2009!


Oh, and a big THANKS, Erin, for all the great posts today. I was off at a company event this afternoon/evening, but loved seeing the info tonight. Almost (but not quite ) as good as being there!

I'm off to Lima for the weekend. Probably won't be online too much.

So if I am already a member of the Mickey Moms Club and I choose not to reapply for the Moms Panel, I'm out of the Club?

My son and I got on an earlier flight this morning, and now we're hanging at the Admiral's Club in the Miami airport. So, I get to surf a little bit.

I haven't read anything that says that current Mickey Moms Club members are automatically included in the club next year. They might be, but I don't know why you'd risk it. How hard is it to submit three responses on the application site?? They don't have to be good, nor do they have to be long!

Well, I still find it hard to believe they haven't reached 20,000...so, I'm going to say:

20,000+

Who knows, maybe there is a computer glitch that can't shut down the system...or maybe they are leaving it open for all who want to join the Mickey Moms Club...but only accepting the first 20,000 entries for purposes of the panel selection.

As far as a date, I'm going to stick with what was posted on the website - November 1st...and if anything comes out before then, it will be a pleasant surprise!

I think November 1st is still an agressive timeline to read all those entries. AND, how do we know there will be a second round (like last year)? What if they go directly to the phone interview on 11/1? That would put us back on track for the same timeline as last year.

But I do think there will be a round 2 of essays...and now that we know what the Moms Panel is, how cool would it be for Disney to select 3 questions that were actually submitted to the Moms Panel? Round 2 contestants could answer as if they were on the panel. I think it would be a great way to judge!
