Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

If you go back to the moms panel site to apply, they recommend not to cut and paste your entry. I am going to apply in 80 minutes when my final class is done for the day.
so if you already have, tough luck? i was so excited to apply, i didn't even read that! guess I'm out already.

what does that mean for us that already did the cut and paste?

If you cut and pasted I would see if you could apply again. I noticed when I cut and pasted it listed words available as 100 at the bottom of the screen. When I erased and typed it in by hand the words available went down to zero.

I think those that cut and pasted might have turned in blank applictions but that is just my opinon.

I think what they are referring to is that some charachters will display a little different when cut and paste from Word. My experience is that if you used regular letters and only periods and commas, you should be just fine.

If you used some special charachters, they will just display a little different; for example, a quote mark might look like a box. No big deal and I am sure it won't disqualify you! :)

I submitted my application. Good luck to everyone who has done/will soon be doing so.

I am off to meet the Kindergarten bus and see my daughter for a little while before I have to head in to work. I will check in later.

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

Nobody panic. I wasn't trying to alarm anyone. I really, really, really haven't heard that anything is wrong with anyone's application. However, my experience has been that when we on the Panel try to cut and paste anything from Word, the word count gets messed up and sometimes there are garbled characters inserted.

And don't you love that in the message where I told you all to watch your grammar, etc. I have a huge typo in the note. See, even careless folks like me can make it onto the Panel. :rotfl2:

Thanks, finally someone w/some hope! My boxes read the words. I had 1 or 2 words left in each box. So I do not think i turned in a blank app. i used all regular letters and only periods. Thanks again for making me feel better!:goodvibes

once you apply, you can not apply again

That was my goal! No worries! :):flower3:

I got my application in this morning! I had a reminder scheduled on my Outlook calendar. I applied last year and have enjoyed the Mickey Moms Club this past year. I hope they have more "consolation prizes" again this year. I don't have high hopes of advancing, but it is fun to wish and dream!

I cut and pasted mine from word (which has an automatic word counter on it) when I hit send it told me that one of my essays was too long and the amount of words it was over by. As long as you double check it to make sure it didn't delete any words that you wanted you should be fine. I highly doubt that those of us who cut and pasted sent in blank applications!

Just finished my app. My husband is going to be so mad if I make a finalist. He thinks the whole idea is crazy! So what? If loving Disney World make me crazy, then I'm happy. I really would love to get this - I am a complete DISNEY FREAK!

Good luck to all of us!

I didn't cut and paste but I still had a problem with the word count being off. It kept deleating some of my words.

Does anyone know when the next round people will be notified?

Hi all! It's been awhile since I posted on this thread, but I have been lurking! I appreciate all the insight I've received from you all and want to congratulate the worlds premier Mom's Club panelists for a phenomenal beginning! I just submitted my application and I wanted to wish all the other "mom's panel hopefuls" oodles of luck and even more patience for the upcoming months! :cheer2:

I’m loving all of the activity on this thread today! :thumbsup2

Well, it’s done. I submitted my essays, received my e-mail confirmation, and then schlepped downstairs to satisfy some nervous “munchies.” :rolleyes1 (‘Gotta love those big bags of snack mix from Costco! ::yes::)

I was tempted to cut-and-past the answers, but I ultimately typed them. (I’m such a little rules-follower. On more than one occasion, my DH has actually started clapping when he spotted me choosing not to perfectly level whatever I’m measuring for a recipe. Hmmmmph! Guess he figured I was living on the edge?!? :upsidedow )

One slightly weird thing, though: I’d drafted my essays in Word. They met the word-count requirements, and Disney’s online form even showed that I had a word or two to spare. Regardless, for two of my essays, the last word merged with the one before it to make one really funky compound one. Of course, I immediately started searching for expendable words I could delete to make enough room to finish my sentence. …Not my preference, but oh well!

(Wow! That’s totally TMI… :flower3: It’s just I found the whole thing ‘kinda strange and wondered if anyone else also had experienced it!)

Anyway, I’m thinking it’s now time for a totally mindless diversion…
Regardless of who you plan to support during the upcoming election, you can’t deny that this video of Piper Palin (Sarah Palin’s youngest daughter) is too cute! :teeth:
(She gave her baby brother’s hair a nice spit-shine during her mother’s speech at the RNC. :crazy2:) I think I’ll mentally file this little gem under “Kids Do the Darndest Things…” Too funny!

DisgeeksfromDC that is the same thing that happened to me. Word told me 100 I cut and pasted at first but it won't accept the last word. So, I think read the not to cut and paste part so I typed everything and had to find a word to delete.

I'm so glad I found this thread. It's going to be so nerveracking until someone hears they made it. I don't hold out much hope for me but it will be fun to share the experience with others this year.

Much Pixie Dust to all that apply.
