Adults only resort on property

To those who say that Disney was made for families & children, I do agree; however, it would be nice if there was an adults-only resort, area, or restaurant.

Look at the Disney cruises, they have adults-only areas and restaurants. Why not in the resorts/parks as well?

I'm not understanding this. We are lucky enough to be able to stay at Deluxe resorts, but if we're going to WDW...why would we be sending our kids somewhere else? Why does less income mean you need a break from your kids more than someone else? Sincerely not trying to start something up, but I don't get this.

I don't get this either!

I love the idea of an "adults only" Disney Resort, but I would only want to stay there if it's a deluxe resort, been spoiled by the Poly! My husband and I don't have kids and for the most part are not annoyed by other peoples kids but it would be nice to have that option.

:rotfl: But in Disney World everyone is a kid, so nobody could stay there. :rotfl:

Seriosuly though, I'm not sure if it's the fact that I stay in the less popular resorts or if it's the times of year I go but I don't ever have any reason to complain about noisy kids at the resorts during an hour they shouldn't be being noisy. Teenagers on the other hand, who would be allowed at the adult only hotel presumably, are a nightmare at hours when they should be quiet. I don't see that being stopped by an "adults only" resort.

I like the idea and would consider it. But location plays a bigger factor for me. I love staying at Epcot's backdoor so I don't know if I would give that up for an adults only hotel.

Besides, I don't have kids now, but we want them. If Disney did do this it would probably be after we have them. And if I really wanted to stay at this kind of hotel, it would be my luck that opening day would coincide with the day I give birth! ::yes::

I don't think anybody meant "disney adult". They were talking legal adult, as in over 21. :) I agree that teens left on their own can be a true pain.

I agree. Cruises have adult only areas, both on the ships and Castaway Cay. An adult only resort is something I'd consider if it were in the value or moderate price range.

My kids will be 16 and 14 on our next trip so I'd have several years to go before being able to stay at an adult only resort (or area within a resort) if one were offered. My kids are quiet as mice at the pools (one does nothing but read, and the other will swim and read), though if there were an adult only resort rules are rules and they'd be too young to stay there.

I guess Victoria and Albert is the only true "adult" location at WDW? Is there an age requirement to dine there? I think there is, but can't remember for certain.

I don't really understand your response. For those with grown up children, those traveling without children, or someone like me who plans not to have children, the benefit of an adults-only resort would be simple: NO KIDS running around and crying, which means hopefully less noise.

What is the benefit of having a family-only hotel where adults without children aren't allowed?

I think you might have answered your own question.. :lmao:

Family kid friendly resort... There will be tons of children and some will be running around because there will be tons of children's activities going on around the resort all day. There will also be activities for teenagers. The resort will also encourage for parents to join along.

Noise will be expected. Babies are welcome to cry because that what they do. Toddlers are welcome to cry too! :) There will be a kid friendly club, just like on the DCL. There will be clubs for toddlers/kinder group. 6-10 yr old group, there will be 11-13 yr old group.. and there will be 14-17 year old group. Or however they have it set up at DCL.

There won't be any fancy restaurants, but a huge food court and there will be some actions there too! There will be no spa. This resort is all about families with children because this resort is catered to children.

I know it will benefit our family because we're all about fun fun fun!! We like to engage in fun activities! We like to be in the middle of action. If this is not your cup of tea... then you will not be happy in this resort. Or if you want a trip that is more relaxing, laid back and quiet.. Then this is not the resort for you.

Looks like you have just described every value resort I've ever seen.

I guess.. :lmao: I'm fine with that! I can stay at any level.. that is as long as budget permits! ;) My favorite value resort is the ASMovies!

Let's get back to our regular program.. back on the topic! :goodvibes

There is...but it's age 10 and up. Not a true adult only experience, but it wasn't meant to be...they did it because more guests were insisting on bringing in babies and little kids. Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance have a 21 and up age limit but that's it. There is a rumor that at least part of Splitsville at DTD, when it opens, will be adult only for some hours at night.

This is an interesting question. I'll never have kids (medical reasons), but I like them. My only thought is the arcade. They could have PINBALL MACHINES!!! I know they are old fashion and I like video games, but for some reason I always end up at the arcade's lonely little pinball machine; they're really fun. :confused3 On one trip the only pinball they had was broke and I was so disappointed! I'd be glad to stay at a resort where they had a selection of pinball machines to play!:joker:

To clarify, if Disney built a resort that catered only to adults: Would you stay there? Why or why not?

Just curious...

Heck yeah! for the relaxation and the peace and quiet. I little time away from the 'meltdowns'...hah! :goodvibes

I think this question would make for a great poll. :)

Psst, Disney Quest...

You betcha! I'd love it. I take my grandkids to WDW some, go with my just my husband some, take my mom some, and also do at least a couple of solo trips each year. I'd love a resort that was adults only. I love kids, but would love to have a resort where none of the little buggers are running around screaming and banging on doors.

As OPs have mentioned, it would depend on the price. Mind you it would be nice to have an adult only pool, hotel and restaurant where you could decompress from all that it Disney! Yes, I would try it, but I think most people who are seriously considering an adult only venue, book an all inclusive resort because of the facilities, food and watersports! Access to a theme park is not an important priority at an all inclusive resort!

Intriguing idea! Although Dh and I did not notice kids being annoying or disrupting us at all on our recent BC trip

Sure, sounds great!

Don't get me wrong; I love kids, but not 24/7. And especially not when their parents are in vacation mode.

I would absolutely stay at an adults only resort at WDW. I don't think that's a bad idea at all. No kids playing in the hot tub would be amazing! :lmao:

I agree. While you don't have to be a child to enjoy Disney, everyone has to remember that is primarily caters to children and families. I wouldn't expect to travel to Disney and find an "adult" environment any more than I would expect to go to Las Vegas and find a "family" environment. I think its more about knowing the destination, and choosing or choosing not to partake, based on whats important to you.

Erm, you wouldn't expect to find venues that are 'family' environment in Vegas? You may have your perception of Vegas stuck in the movies.

Adventuredome and Rainforest Cafe come to mind rather readily. Of course, you also currently have V&As in WDW which fits under adult-only. Or do you mean 'Adult' as in more similar to nightclubs?

On the general topic however. It seems what most folks are asking for is a quiet resort as opposed to necessarily an adult-resort, and there are difficulties with enforcing it [just look at how many reports you find of folks having conversations on their cellphone in the 'quiet cars' on trains]. And frankly, I don't see it being to viable to enforce at the Value-end of resorts due to the population density at those resorts. While I can see Moderate and Deluxe being easier to deal with due to the generally lower population density, I suspect it would be a case of being Quiet only so long as the guests realize it's supposed to be quiet.

I think there's an interesting question as to what benefit an Adult/Quiet Resort would provide that the Cabins or Treehouses don't. Only things I can really see is the pool and ease of access to your lobby/stores/dining [or even a quiet lobby]. The pools are a big factor though.
