ADRs Book tomorrow!!!!

according to someone on another respected Disney forum she is hearing that magic bands aren't working at all down there today either! Disney is telling everyone with the dining plan to pay out of pocket and submit the receipts for reimbursement. They are handing out hard tickets and everything! CRAZY! This is what happens when you tie and entire digital network together. One little glitch can bring the WHOLE system down.

I would've FURIOUS if they told me to,pay for my meals and submit receipts to be reimbursed. Those meals were all prepaid! People don't have that kind of money to dish out hundreds of dollars for meals to be reimbursed.

OMG, that's bad, really bad!!
Sorry, I thought it was working because originally I was getting an error that it was unable to search for tables. Then that changed to no tables available, but apparently it's still down.

So frustrated. I've spent this whole day from 5am on hitting "Search Times" every, like, 5 minutes. I thought going Thanksgiving week instead of Christmas (when we usually go) would be less stressful when booking ADRs but it definitely hasn't worked out that way this year. I'm a die-hard Disney fan (and most importantly so are my kids), but this is so far away from the definition of "fun", "magical" and "vacation" (LOL), that I'm going to reconsider these twoce a year trips. A little too much stress for something that's supposed to be fun...but for this year, sending happy IT vibes to Disney so I can get this over with and just go ahead and know for sure all the reservations we want are unavailable.

Does anyone know if it's more difficult to get ADRs Thanksgiving week than at Christmas? Did I make the wrong decision by taking us at Thanksgiving this year? I wasn't really worried about it but now with this crud going on all day, I'm freaking out about it all.

Oh WOW!!!!! That stinks!!!

It will be this year with free dining being available during that week. It was already very crowded, but add free dining and the resturaunts are booked solid

WHY would they offer free dining on a holiday week? That seems completely insane to me.

Aren't they also making it more expensive during holiday weeks? So a net zero, but they probably have more profit margin in the tickets and hotels so in the end they come out ahead getting more people to come in a week that's more expensive by giving the dining.

Yeah, isnt that the deal with free/discount dining? You end up paying full rack rate for the room so you're not really saving anything in the end. You would think that they would t even need the benefit of running a "special" during a holiday week. We booked several months ago, and I wouldn't say there were many options in terms of room availability. We couldn't get one at Polynesian (our favorite) and booked at Grand Floridian instead which will be fun but we have three kids and it's so WHITE I feel like we are going to get it dirty.

But I guess they'd actually have to be able to eat food to get anything dirty and it doesn't sound like that's going to happen.

Well, we go every year at Thsnksgiving. They have always offered free dining as long as you checked in by the Thursday before Thanksgiving. So, we have never been able,to benefit from it or,any other discount because it is a prime week. This year for some odd reason they opened up free dining through check in dates of Nov. 21st, which is the Monday of Thanksgiving week. We scooped that right up because it saves me well over $1000 during a holiday week. I see it just as a discount since we aren't eligible for any room rate discounts anyway. Who knows why they did it, but I'm glad they did.......now, they just need to get the dining reservstions system back up and running so I can book my meals!

Just curious and I'm sure it's too late now, but which Dining plan was free?
It depends on what resort level you were staying in....value resorts got free quick service plans while moderate and deluxe get the free regular dining. Not many choices are left with availability, but there are still some options open with the free dining package. And if you have a Disney Rewards Visa there are other hotel options available that aren't listed for the general public.

We're in the Contemporary. This is our 3rd time staying. We stayed first at the Villas of Kidani Village (not a fan of the massively long walk from lobby and buses to room), next we stayed at the Villas of the Grand Floridian which was actually great for us with the kids. I loved having the washer and dryer. This time we're bringing the in-laws and brother in law, his wife and son. So, it quickly became too expensive!

How is the Contemporary? I'll miss the washer and dryer!

The last I checked, the Contemporary didn't have availability for free dining, but it's worth always checking, as things open up if people cancel.

still down at 7:10pm ET.
I thought it was back up for a minute as a few searches said "no tables available between xxx and xxx" but then I called and they said still down. :(

I never even thought this could go into tomorrow, and we'd be competing with a whole extra day of new check-in guests arriving on the 21st!! Any one have any inclination that the system will be up and running tonight?? Please?!?!
