My son's trip to carniege hall was cancelled there was just no way to rebook 30 students and chaperones together last minute during the last of spring break travel.

On the topic of drinks at WDW we love to go to the top of the world lounge, grab a drink and watch the fireworks. They have some great cocktails on their menu since reopening. I do dislike that its not always available because they do paid parties there.

@EllieJedi I love puzzles!! That would be my heaven.

So, I also shouldn’t tell her about the selection of Disney merchandise at Yodobashi camera in Shinjuku. I’ve never seen so many Disney puzzles in my life. I bought this one that was almost 4’ long there.

Omgosh that's so amazing!!! Love it! Okay good thing is...I can't buy puzzles because I don't have enough space to display them! *phew*

I definitely learned that for our next trip to Japan we need an extra empty suitcase.

Since steak is one of the topics...let's talk about booze (again!)...haha:rolleyes1

What's your choice of poison? Wine? Cocktail? Shots only? Beer? (IPAs lovers are always welcome here!)
What kind of wine do you like?
Do you make cocktails at home? What are some of your favorite or most interesting concoction?
Let's throw Disney into this too...what is your #1 place to have a drink and chill at WDW? You can only choose ONE!

I drink more cocktails when I'm out and 'bout, but more wine at home. I like mostly riseling, savu blanc, champagne/sparkling wine. If I'm having a steak, I will most likely have either Malbec or Bordeaux blend. Not a huge fan of Cabernet, but will try it if someone recommends a bottle to me.
During the pandemic, I have made some interesting drinks at home. My favorite is probably this one - Soju, Lime flavored sparkling water (or club soda if you don't want it sweet), and a Melona Melon popsicle (any flavor you like) IN the drink! YUM!!

I would say Geyser Point at WL is probably my favorite place to have an afternoon bevvie and hang out. Although I have heard Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Coronado is also a great spot! We haven't been, so probably will check it out next time!

:drinking1
I’m not a big drinker but on vacation especially somewhere warm I would have cider, especially apple or pear. With a nice dinner, I like a nice Spanish or French white. Geyser Point is nice, but I also really like Wine Bar George.

I don’t make cocktails at home.

I'll drink anything but cheap American beer (like Miller Lite and Natural Lite) and wine. idk why but I'm not a wine fan. Also not the biggest fan of martinis. I make margaritas whenever I'm having Mexican food, take out or from scratch. I did see a replica Violet Sake receipe on Youtube that I want to try. I LOVE that drink at Epcot so what's better than to have it at home? I plan on making it and trying it once I'm no longer sick.

Oh man, do I have to pick one? Lately I've been vibing at Jock Lindsay's but I also like Geyser Point, La Cava del Tequila and Trader Sam's after 8 pm as I enjoy the more adult only atmosphere. Haven't been to AbracadaBar and Victoria Falls Lounge but I want to soon.

I love a craft cocktail but since hitting my 30s, find I'm not super into alcohol itself. It probably doesn't help that I am a notorious lightweight lol. But I do like the taste and artistry of a good mixed drink! I love how many places are leveling up their nonalcoholic/mocktail selection so that it's on par with the cocktail menu. Every now and again I do love a really good martini with GOOD gin and a twist, though. But only one, because it's literally all booze lol.

And if I could only choose one bar to hang out in at WDW ... I think it'd have to be Trader Sam's.

Do you know of other places in Tokyo to find good merchandise, outside of the parks, especially resale type places? When we went in 2018, we did go to Nakano Broadway which was fun. I know Akihabara has places too, but don't know specifics other than Mandrake.

I know you didn't quote me but Don Quijote stores had a decent selection of Disney stuff. These stores are all over the city. They're massive and hard to miss. They also have great prices for candy/treats to take home as gifts.

steak-just walk the cow past the broiler. rare...........very rare.

cocktails? a TRUE irish coffee-coffee, irish whiskie (tullamore dew preferably) and some unsweetened cream (or in the rare instance they have it -unsweetened whipping cream). i've done a holiday variation where they moisten the rim of the glass (as with a margarita) and rim it with cinnamon and sugar. nice option.

beer-guiness stout, pref on tap (black and tan is nice as well)

wine? so not a snob b/c i grew up in napa and frankly......a grape is a grape is a grape is a grape......so any chardonnay is fine (none of those sickly sweet wines thank you-'tourist tasting trash' as we used to call it back in the day).

My favorite cocktail is served on the Fantasy in Palo it is a rasberry mojito martini and its the best!! I have made a decent version of it at home with white bacardi rum, chambord, fresh mint and one of those fresh fruit rasberry popsicles.

We love Wine Bar George too! Last time we were there, George actually poured my wine flight!! So cool meeting him!

DH wanted to try Jock LIndsay but everytime we are at DS, we are just so full from whatever meals/snacks we are having already. We haven't tried Abracadabar either, but looks like a fun place!

I've had no luck so far I have gotten to another checkout screen a couple of times but its not loading properly. So frustrating. We have had such horrible rains in soFla that they closed the airport until noon today and my son was supposed to fly out this morning at 6am to sing with his school choir at Carnegie Hall this weekend. His poor teacher has probably been up all night trying to get 30 people rescheduled.
I hope they're able to get out in time!!! Are they doing the 2-day workshop event or just singing? Our HS choir has performed at Carnegie Hall several times over the years my kids have been in school. It's very cool to see them on that stage. One year when my 2nd oldest son was in the choir, they were actually performing at CH on his birthday. The choir director -- knowing he'd get his hand slapped for doing it but did it anyway -- had the choir sing Happy Birthday to him while they were rehearsing on stage. He still talks about that 17 years later. :D We fortunately live just a few hours away from NYC and our choir director has great connections with various venues in NYC so my kids have gotten to sing at CH, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, and a few other random places throughout the city. They've also done workshops with the cast of Broadway shows. My daughter got to do Wicked...can't remember what my son did. Our youngest daughter was scheduled to do the workshop with....Hamilton!!!! And then Covid happened.... Next year the choir is doing a 2-day workshop and performing at CH. It's the first time they'll be doing the actual workshop there. Our youngest child graduates this year so she won't get to participate. :( Singing at any of those places is such a great experience for the kids!

ETA: I just saw your update. :( I'm so sorry they won't get to sing at Carnegie Hall. I'm sure they're all super disappointed. :(

You don't have to order food there. I was just there last weekend and I ordered drinks only. If you (or anyone) goes during Christmas, they have a fantastic holiday themed menu.

@Smugpugmug - But that's the problem, we are so full that we couldn't even stomach ONE more drink!! LOL! We need to change that next time, for sure!!

He is disappointed but he's going to tag along to Tampa with us and his girlfriend and her mom who are going to see Taylor swift with my girls, we will drop them off at the concert and go to Bern's his favorite restaurant and busch gardens. Its not Carnegie hall but at least he's not sitting at home as its his spring break. He's a senior so this was his last chance, they were going to do the 2 day workshop and sing on sunday. What wonderful opportunities for your kids to sing at all those amazing venues. My middle daughter has an amazing voice and hopes to be singing and acting on stage in NY someday.

Ugh, I’m so sorry for your son. 😔 I’m sure that you will still have a great time in Tampa.

wine - mostly white (Savi B or Chardonnay). Occasionally red (I'm lookin at you Skywalker Pinot Noir :magnify:)

beer - not much of a beer drinker but I like it to be light (in colour haha). Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc is one I enjoy.

cocktails - have recently gotten into gin :rotfl2:been avoiding it most of my adult life but then I had a cocktail about a year ago made with Empress Gin and HELLLLLLLO world! So yes, Empress or Hendricks, please. Recently tried the Aviation gin (Ryan Reynolds brand) but not really impressed...tastes more like vodka to me lol

Ugh, I'm so sorry for him and the other kids in that choir. I'm sure they're all very sad about having to cancel the trip. I'm glad he's able to join you on your little trip to Tampa. At least he has something to look forward to and keep him occupied. The son of a guy I used to work with was singing/acting in NYC for a few years as a child/teenager. He was accepted in to a program at Julliard for HS kids and did that for a year (I think...he might have left that program after a few months). In addition to stage shows, he also did a few commercials and independent movies. I loved seeing pictures of him with the celebrities he worked with and also seeing pictures of him on the red carpet at the Tony Awards. His family moved to Los Angeles about 2 years ago so he could pursue his acting career there. Good luck to your daughter in pursuing her dream!
