I think everyone secretly enjoys a bit of trashy TV. I remember being temporarily mortified when my husband outed my trashy viewing habits to a group of friends at a dinner party. 🫣
I watch very little trashy tv (I think) ... though I like Big Brother and have outlasted both my kids watching it. I have friend that we watch at same time and talk about it via computer. That said I came to share my "outing" ...

At my kids PreK - Kindergarten (they are grown now) they had a Mother's Tea. One thing they did was draw a nice big picture of them and their Mom and then dictate or write a sentence on the bottom of something about their Mom. No names because Moms are supposed to figure out which is theirs ... thank goodness.

DS wrote in Kindergarten (public school) "My Mom likes to go to parties and drink beer." :drinking1Um okay? I told the teacher I don't know why he wrote that, I don't even like going to parties. She was sweet and says "Oh don't worry, they usually write something that was unusual that happened because they remember that more." Sweet woman.

Then came DD, I mean how much worse could it get you ask? Let's add that she was my last and honestly I could have "age wise" birthed some of her classmates mothers. Needless to say we weren't social or going to the playground or anything together. AND PreK was in a large waiting list only church school. :snooty: I arrive to the Mother's Tea and start reading ......... yeah ............. "My Mom's favorite tv show is Roseanne" .......... I didn't look to the teacher for any sympathy because church school and Roseanne, oil and water. Just acted like it wasn't mine. I think she said something else like I played with her and made pancakes but reality is no one was going to pay attention to that.

I know about birthing the other moms. It's about like when the Target cashier assumes my DD is my granddaughter. My DH (9 years older) always says it's because of him, but it sure makes me feel old!

I was (still am) an older mom. Years ago, I was shopping with another 'older mom' friend a few months after we both had given birth to our first children. The salesperson at some overpriced boutique looked at me pushing my baby in a stroller and asked if my due date was imminent. Then she turned to my friend and ask if the baby in the stroller was her grandchild.

Our travel style often gets called out by friends/family that we are leisure bougie!😂 Staying at luxury resorts would be my FT hobby if I won the lotto!.
Wow your guys favorites are pretty much same as ours! Those are also some of our "go-to"/must as well. We haven't tried Toppolinos, I know it's a lot of people's faves. Do you like their breakfast over dinner?
Btw I love that word! I don't know why I don't ever use it? It is absolutely fitting when we do some moo moo sharoo and resort hopping!👍🏼
With DVC, we have other options than folks that go once a year or once every few years - so our style is going to be different. We also don't prioritize rides beyond the "headliners" and a few nostalgic favorites. Lately, its been more about leisure and luxuriating - I stole the word (and Disney lifestyle choice) from Molly (formerly at https://allears.net/ and now with her own biz at https://www.youtube.com/c/MammothClub_ ).

At Toppolinos - I could go either way as the Breakfast / Dinner experiences are different in that Breakfast is all about the Character Meets and Dinner is about a higher-end dinner experience. I could argue there may be better for both types of experiences, but the quality and consistency is pretty solid.

I was on an America's Next Top Model kick for a while - because I actually like photography - so found the creative shoots to be interesting. My wife was like ... you don't need to broadcast to EVERYONE that you watched that show.

I used to not be so bad at packing :sad:

But like I needed two outfits per day for Mexico one for the day one for the meals at night and assuming I'll spend the rest in my swimsuits and then I needed two additional outfits for backup, the pjs, the underwear, a few socks, and shoes okay I needed tennis shoes then sandals but then cute sandals. I usually only pack like 2 or 3 pairs of shoes (including the ones I wear to the airport) but nope couldn't work that this time.

I'm going to need some serious help for the cruise because we cannot take as much stuff (baggage and just stuff). Not looking forward to that packing day.

Oh you want schedules and spreadsheets well this one was Puerto Rico that my husband made (just part of it)

Here's a snippet from WDW/USO last year that I made:

I'm right there with ya on color coded and everything!

Yeah left that thread not sure what the deal was really 🤷‍♀️

But I had other things to worry about like packing and now catching up on this wonderful thread 😁😁 appreciate the support :flower3:

I am in love with that spreadsheet. :lovestruc I do something similar, but in Notion. Any Notion users out there? I'm a huge fan, I have a travel section with subsections for each trip, including itinerary, packing list, etc. I supplement my Notion packing list with a Google slides outfit planner inspired by the YouTuber Alyssa Lenore. I've been doing it forever and I swear she has an older video walking through the process too but I didn't dig back far enough to find it. It's a little bit bonkers nuts but brings me joy to create.

Enjoy your trip, and Safe travels - and "Welp" is so midwestern :) I use that all the time in my spoken conversations lol

Also "ope," which does indeed come out of my mouth multiple times a day.

Love that!👍 Slow down and enjoy where you are! Our Disney trips these days are kinda similar to yours now that we are older. We just expect parks to be busy all the time, so that at least there won't be as much disappointment. But I still try to plan our trips around the "crowd calendar" though, just because there's still SOME truth to it. We avoid MK Sat/Sun, and if we are staying longer than a week, Saturday is usually our non-park day to do whatevers.

DH and I agree upon each park day, which rides are must do (usually just a handful) + shows, and if we can do more, that's bonus. We definitely aren't doing Disney like we were in our 20s anymore! We can't! Physically, it's just draining and we know if we try to push it and "make it worth it" (we don't have AP), it will just bite us in the behind!!😵 We now understand and appreciate the importance of a quality Disney vacation (or any vacation for that matter). We rather do less, but enjoy everything we do, and not get ourselves exhausted. It's a vacation! It SHOULDN'T be exhausting, that's just wrong. We don't rope drop anymore either, not really necessary for us. EXCEPT the two times when we got Group 2 for both Guardians and ROTR! (patting myself on the back! haha!) We had to rush to get ready and headed to the park right away!! For ROTR, our call back time was before HS even opened! I seriously thought we could go back to sleep for at least an hour not expecting we would be able to get anything in the early morning. But I won't complain! It was very nice just walking on both rides first thing in the AM. I would do that again and again!
A friend of mine, have 2 boys both under 10 and the last time they went to WDW, they flew into MCO on a redeye, then went straight to MK!!😮 I was like...are you insane?! That sounds like torture to me! Unless someone pays me enough, otherwise that's a heck no!

On parks days, since we aren't in a rush to get to the parks, I like to have my coffee on our balcony (if we have one) and take our time. We definitely like to find a nice spot for an afternoon break. We wanted to check out that lounge at the Gran Destino last trip, but didn't make it over there. It will be on our list for sure next time! Btw, we did visit RIV and enjoyed the Riva bar by the pool! We met a CM that was a CP years ago like us, and he also met his wife during their CPs days, made a connection with him so that was pretty neat!

I also love hearing about other people's touring styles. My sister and I are doing a trip together in May that will be much more laid-back. One park per day, sleep in (unless we get an early boarding group) and just generally be chill.

Then a friend of mine and I are doing a girls trip at the end of August, and she hasn't been since like, 2015 so of course I am determined to make her fall in love with The Theme Park Experience. However I know it will be HOT so I think we will rope drop, knock out as much as possible then do the classic "break at the resort." Also going to utilize park hopping to our advantage that trip.

This is so true!! DH and I both watch RHOA. I don't watch any of the other locales in the franchise. I find the ladies in Atlanta to be so entertaining. Years ago when DH got sucked into watching he told me to NEVER divulge to our friends that he watches that show with me. I, of course, took that as a challenge and always find a way to bring up that little factoid in convos with friends just to embarrass him. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Your husband is a man of taste. I love Bravo and I argue it's elevated beyond a "guilty pleasure" or "trash TV" ... the lives and storylines of some of these women are positively Tennessee Williams-esque. Especially RHONY 1.0, or even some of the Potomac ladies. The current Vanderpump Rules drama!? Riveting personal conflict on the level of some of the greats of literature!

I'm only sort of joking.

We literally live down the street from one of the ladies on the show for RHOA - couldn't tell you her name - cuz I don't watch it ... :)

At first I thought you wrote that you were on American Idol! I am guilty of watching the first few seasons.

🤣😂🤣😂 I mean...that's not the wrong description for some of them...🤭
I am fully guilty of enjoy watching trashy reality shows...the trashiest one of all that I used to watch...Jersey Shores!! I have a few family members are from jersey and they got me into it. They are more like dumpster 🔥 lol!
I've never seen Jersey Shore but it always reminds me of when I went to Hawaii for the first time. I'm from NJ and was still living there at the time and the show was still airing so during the trip my dad was looking at shirts in a store and we were talking to one of the employees. He then asks us where we're from and we said New Jersey. He pauses for a second and then says "But you guys seem so nice." LOL

An unrelated, totally sidebar, doesn't apply to anyone else I don't think, VENT. My DD uses an online homeschool program for some of her work. Here it is ALMOST the end of the year and the jerk creator took away the parent's ability to assign courses. AND all progress has been lost. Thankfully, I don't need a report of progress from their system, for my state, but I am livid. She's now unenrolled and I will take over all coursework for the remainder of the school year. I don't mind that part, but what happened to being professional and honorable? This is an organization that has many thousands of users. It is not a little company or a mom and pop.

Ok, I feel better venting. Thank you :D

There are absolutely rides at each park that I don’t hit up every visit at this point, and then those rides that the wait has to be fairly short for me to ride. I think every long time visitor gets to a point where they have their own must-rides or must see shows. For me, some of them are typical like Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth and Haunted Mansion. But some of my others are Muppet Vision, the PeopleMover, and all of the country films in Epcot.

Molly is the best. I’m so happy that she has her own channel now.

About seven years ago I started a new job in the Finance department of a bank. After my first day I decided to celebrate by running to the local casino for a few hours.

As I was playing at a blackjack table I was surprised to see our Human Resources Officer at a different table. I didn’t really want him to see me as I worried that he would frown upon seeing the guy who they literally just hired to manage their bank’s money sitting at a blackjack table on night one let alone find out I was a regular there.

After a short time he left his table and started walking toward mine. He made eye contact and I thought well, at least I wasn’t playing with one of my regular blackjack dealers and so I could pretend I was just there for the special occasion.

He sat down at my table and we made some small talk. He asked me how my first day had gone. And then another dealer happened to walk by, stopped and said “Hey Jeff, did you see (WWE) Raw this week? What did you think?”

In one quick stop he had outed me as both a gambler and a pro wrestling fan.

Obviously, nobody cared and I’m still with the bank.

What's everyone up to today? I'm finishing cleaning. Ugh, you never realize how much there is until you know someone's coming over!

For those that don't know, I'm a SAHM and I homeschool DD11. Fun times! (seriously). :)
End of a 4 day weekend here. In Canada both Good Friday and Easter Monday are stats but the Monday is a 'weird' one in that not everyone gets it off, it's mostly government, schools, banks etc today whereas most people get Good Friday off. Hence, DH is back at work today and my girls are home from school. I'm also a SAHM (but possibly going back to work in the Fall when my youngest starts high school, we'll see).

My vent for the day (and total first world problem) is that I was able to book activities and excursions etc for my upcoming August Europe cruise (first cruise as Platinum, yay) and the website pooped the bed as per usual!!! now being on the west coast means I don't have to wait til midnight, it was 9pm for me when I first started try and 10:55pm when I FINALLY got in. The worst was that most people in my cruise group were not having any issues. Some did and then eventually got in. ARGH. I got most of it done by 11:15 then called it a night and tried to finish my bookings off this morning. Once again Disney IT stinks stinks stinks.

I typically try to stay neutral on the IT type stuff as that's in my professional area that I swim around in everyday... At the same time, I also get annoyed at almost the hunger games approach to everything in terms of ADRs, Extras and the like. I don't know - its a roller coaster of emotions as you indicated in trying to come up with the best itinerary possible.

Who knew a thread title could be so triggering? There’s a thread on the community board titled something along the lines of “Are your neighbors older, younger or about the same age as yourself?”. Now, my kids always tease me that this is a boring neighborhood for older people and families and that is pretty accurate. The thread title made me stop and think though that when we moved in 23 years ago, there were a lot of older retired people on our block. Now of my immediate neighbors, it’s mostly younger families. The retired couple who used to live next door sold a couple of months ago to a nice younger guy who’s been updating the house. Two of the neighbors regularly ask if I need help with my garbage bins or when it snows. I’m now the older person. 👵Lol.

Ugh ... same exact story here in our little neighborhood and for us ... and we pay the neighbor kid to haul our garbage down to the curb :) So, what's up with that!
