Adding days and fp

Quick question: On our way to Disney. We have 5 day tickets. Have fp's for all five days made. Upgrading to a 9 day ticket. If we go into a park tonight before adding days(since we have to go in before upgrading ticket---from UT) is that going to make one of our days of fp's drop off? Just afraid that since fast passes are made for all 5 days but when we go in, that will technically be a sixth day and they will see that last day that we have fast passes as too many days.
Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

The most current info is that you now do not have to enter a park before you upgrade. You can upgrade at a Ticket Booth or Guest Relations before you enter a park.

If you enter and then upgrade, you won't lose your FPs because they'll remain for 1.5 days without a linked entitlement.

It really is easier to upgrade before entering so that you don't worry about losing anything.

Because OP bought tickets through UT. Only package tickets can be modified prior to arrival by calling Disney.

But just tickets bought through Disney can not be modified until at the gate, right?
Only package tickets can be increased or decreased before reaching WDW. Separate tickets bought through Disney can't be modified until arrival at the parks. Same as third party tickets.

That's what I thought. So if I wanted to add an extra day to my tickets, I could do it at my hotel, or must I enter a park first and then do it?

Her is the most current upgrade info from ravenclawtrekkie:

You can upgrade your tickets any time after your arrival at any theme park ticket window, or any Guest Relations location inside or outside the parks or at Disney Springs. If the CM doing the upgrade knows what they're doing, your price will be correct whether the tickets have been used or not. Do the math ahead of time to make sure - take the gate price of the ticket you want (including tax) and subtract the gate price of the ticket you have (also including tax). The difference is what you should pay...
