Is anyone giving up a Disney day or adding a day to your vacation to go to Legoland. We are adding a day to our vacation to go to Legoland in December. Just wondering if anyone else is excited about the opening of Legoland.

I won't give up a Disney day for nuttin'! On our last trip, we extended our trip by 3 days to visit Universal in lieu of trying to squeeze it in during our Disney week.

LOL, well I would not either if it were not for my 7 and 5 year old boys or at the time of travel 8 and 6. I think they will thoroughly enjoy it or at least hope so. I would love to get my hands on two coupons for free childs ticket with adult ticket purchase.

We are totally adding a day to our trip, our 5 year old is as obsessed with Legos as he is with Mickey! He just finished all the Harry Potter lego sets, (by himself!) and he can't wait to pick up some of the Pirates of the Caribbean legos!

*if* we make it back down in the Fall or Winter, we will be heading to LegoLand, Universal and maybe 1 day at Disney.
We have been to Disney twice this year already, so if we make it back down, we will try some other things too.

I have already paid for my AP+. I am waiting for information on the preview dates.

Ooohhhh, I forgot all about this opening this fall! We were looking at adding another day just for the difference in airfare....maybe this will take up the savings :rotfl:

Legoland will be at the site of the old Cypress Gardens.
Funny thing is for our trip last year I remembered a LONG time ago going to Cypress as a kid and researched it to find out it had closed, reopened, closed again and was being gutted for Legoland to open this fall, for some reason this excited me and we had it on our agenda for next summer. If we do a Disney Cruise we will go to Legoland immediately following then home. If we do a week at Disney we will cut 1 Disney day to do Legoland.

Yeap. We go to Orlando twice a year. My 3 year old thinks Epcot is a snoozer. Easy to give up a day in Epcot for a try at Lego land. Dec trip is MK 2 days, AK 1, HS 1, SeaWorld 2, Lego 1. SeaWorld is his 2nd fav park after MK. That Happy Harbor is the bomb!!!!

We went to Legoland in California in March -- it is much different than Disney or Universal. It is much more geared to young kids -- boys mostly. As an adult, it was neat to go once, and only once, to see the miniature cities -- they had replicas of Las Vegas, New York and New Orleans. We were there a month too early to see the Star Wars area, but they were setting it up and it looked pretty cool.

However, the rides were very kiddy -- a step up from fair rides, and nowhere near the ambiance of Disney rides. None of the testosterone of Universal, either. The theme park didn't have that "Disney" escapism feel to it either.

However, there were lots of places to build legos, etc. My 8 year old son is obsessed with Legos. My kids had a great time, but once they are through with Legos themselves, there will be no reason to go back. We'll probably spend a day at the new one in Florida when we are at Disney next June, but it will be at the expense of Universal which we will put off for another year while my kids get taller.

In short, if you kids like Legos, it's a must-see once. Otherwise, no.
