Does anyone have experience with the activities available in the Flounder's Reef Nursery for a 2.5 year old? I am worried that they will be too "babyish" for my son.

Any other suggestions on board are appreciated!:boat:

I hate to tell you this, but . . . I took my DD at age 2 3/4. She NEVER wanted to go to Flounders. It was OK with us because she hung out with us at the pool and she took naps. It was a GREAT time -- there was me, DH, My sister, DD and DS. We alternated who was with the DD at any time. Each of us got our own 'quiet' time.

Now, on the upside, she remembered that cruise like it happened yesterday. Talked forever about meeting with Cinderella. The pictures are beautiful. We went again this October and she had an even BETTER time. She was 4 1/2 this time and that is the PERFECT age for little girls.

I would recommend you try and wait until she is fully potty trained and over age 3. She could go in the clubs if she wanted.

If you go now with her, you all will LOVE it. If you wait, you will LOVE it, too!

From what I have seen, FLounders doesn't have many "activities" for the little ones. There are lots of toys and videos, but the age ranges in the room is too great for them to have many activities. It is group babysitting and I don't believe they advertise themselves differently. I sent my DD at age 13 months and again when she was 25 months. She didn't tolerate it that well (strange, unfamiliar place). It depends on you rchild how much they will like it.

We just got back from the 4 day cruise with a 14 month old. When we did drop him off in Flounders, there were children of all ages (all under 3 of course). There was stuff to play with as well as a TV that's always playing a Disney Movie.

Can't say much beyond that. We didn't fare too well taking the 14 month old with us because he had a stomic virus the week before the cruise and still had a bad case of diarea when we boarded. Because he had been so sick, we kept him out of Flounders until the end of the cruise. He didn't care much for the beach or the fountain in Mickey's Ear, and was afraid of the characters with the big heads (Micky, Minny, Donald, etc), but did ok with characters like Cinderella.

We are taking a bit family cruise for my parent's 50th anniversary. The anniversary was in August be we are waiting to go until December.

The main reason is that the youngest grandchild turns 3 in November.

We knew that if we went before she was old enough for the children's activities that the trip would be a nightmare. She would have spent the entire cruise crying because the big kids were off doing something that she couldn't do.

We figured a four month delay was worth it to make the cruise a great experience for all the grandkids.

My daughter was 2 1/2 and she did find it to babyish for her. She said all the toys were for babys and she never wanted to go there. She and I spent the whole cruise together...which was ok with me anyway, we had a good time.

I'm taking my 2 1/2 year old son next week so I'll let you know!!!! I sure hope he likes it, at least for an hour here or there! As long as they have Lion King or Toy Story playing he might be okay........ we'll see!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

I am pretty sure they are allowed to go into the club as long as you stay with them.. if you were looking for some activity time that was geared for a little older children. The only catch is you have to supervise them while they are there. But it wouldn't be as babyish as Flounders.

They also have tons and tons of character meet and greet times--so if your toddler likes characters they are in for a treat.

From what I have read, Flounders doesn't have structured activities... It's more like a babysitting-day care service that you can book at two hour incriments. I have heard the care is excellent, but it depends on your child whether or not they will enjoy it. If they are used to daycare, shouldn't be a big deal.
