We have tickets to travel from NY to MCO on 9/14. My sister now wants to join us. For some reason the flights are really expensive on 9/14 and 9/15 but the weeks before and after are priced excellent. I checked our flights and there are still MANY seats available. Why would one week be so much more then the next or previous. Is something going on in FL, where they think many people might need flights??? I thought this was strange.

Airfare is all about demand and supply, either could be different from week to week, and thus different fares. It's sort of pointless to ever compare to different dates/times for airfare prices because there are just too many variables.

Jewish holidays. Rosh Hashana starts on the 17th and a lot of NY schools have off for several days.

thanks for the responses. I will keep checking, if the planes don't fill up, I am sure they will lower prices
