? about borrowing points & multiple resorts

Hello all!

We are still deciding on the best way to buy and be DVC. I have a question for you veterans. Forgive me if this info has been posted elsewhere, but my internet is up and down this week and driving me crazy trying to search for info.

If we buy 150 at SSR and then pick up say 100 at BCV, can we book 11 months out at BCV with our 100 points and then borrow 50 points for the booking? And can we then at 7 months out switch from the BCV borrowed points to points from SSR? Am I making an already complicated set up even more complicated?

Thanks for the people who have been kindly answering all of my questions. I never know when I am going to lose my connection, so I have not been timely with responses. But I am very grateful to the great info that I have gotten so far.

Borrowing points is a final transaction, which means once they are borrowed, they can not be unborrowed. So, if you borrow them to make a ressie at the 11 month window, I don't know why you'd want to switch them to SSR points. You can do that, but those borrowed points from BCV would expire at the end of your use year.

And you could only "switch" to the SSR points at the 7 month window if there were still availability for the same room type and dates.

In other words, if there were a waitlist for the same room type and dates of your reservation, MS would not allow you to substitute your SSR points for the BCV points. If they did, it would allow members to have the home resort priority without having to use home resort points. That wouldn't be right.

If there were still availability, you could ask MS to "free up" current use year points when they switched 50 of the BCV for 50 SSR points. If you were still within your banking deadlines, then you could bank the 50 BCV current year points.
