ABD Bags

We just received our ABD box a couple of days ago. I was surprised to see that we received three different bags rather than backpacks. I like the bags, but I know I'll be using backpacks from previous trips. Did you take the new bags? How did you use them?

Also, do you still receive the duffle bags while on the trip? I like to use those as my carry on when returning home. Thanks!

I took the brown drawstring bag and used it for dirty clothes. I didn't take the canvas bag, even though I liked it, because it's open at the top and I didn't want to lose anything. DS15 took a backpack from a past trip, the dark green ones.


Yes, we still received duffle bags. They are brown trimmed with the same green color as the other things we received in our box.

Maybe we are on the same trip- I noticed you asked a question about CostaRica....(that's where we are going!)...plus I got my travel bags Thursday.
We are on the July 19th trip.

AZLady, we will be there the week before you. I'm just now starting to think about packing though. I think I may be ok in clothes, but DD14 needs a major shopping trip! I just hate to spend a ton of money on things that she may not wear later. She's had a major growth spurt since last summer though, so shopping is a must!

I think I may use the 'purse' bag for my iPod and passports. I'll probably keep it inside my backpack most of the time, but it will be nice to be able to grab it for dinner and such. I think the tote bag would be excellent for the beach times, but DH likes the little backpack for that. Hmm...if it's the tote, I'll end up carrying it. If it's the backpack, he will carry it. Guess I know which one to take!

Tchrrx- I have a DD 14, and will not be getting her much for this trip...she will hate it and refuse to wear it. As for packing, I have not started because my kids leave for a 2 wk summer camp in a few days, so I am working on that~eek!

I found some solid colored shirts that aren't cotton, so they'll be a little more breathable. The tricky part was convincing her that black and gray weren't options. (No idea where that newest bit came from...). I also found a couple pairs of pants for her. I'm ordering it all online. If it doesn't work, I'll return it to the store. At least we won't have to spend hours in the dressing room. We bought a bathing suit a few days ago, and it was a two day/four hour process that involved tears. Hope I survive the teen years!

Funny !! Last 2 yrs I have ordered tons of bathing suits online for DD... She tries them on at home and I go return the rest. Most stores have a limited selection, but online has suits we both can agree on!!

We also like the bags. They are very useful to us also and we have more than enough backpacks for the future. Also as we date our backpacks we notice how the quality has diminished over the years. I appreciate any gift that comes my way so " Thanks ABD".
