Costco is offering up to a $2000 Costco cash card for booking ABD through them. Typically you receive the cards after the trip is over.

Where did you find the infomation that says you get the cash card when you book? The Costco website still says:
The card, which you'll receive two to four weeks after you return from your vacation or cruise, may be used toward merchandise or gas at any Costco warehouse throughout the United States, or toward online purchases at costco.com.

Hi Bobo912. I said that you get the card when the trip is over. I wish you could apply it to the cost of the trip! That would be so sweet.

I think that's a great incentive to book through them!

Tracie, I think what confused Bobo912 is that you said

But then you said

I took it the same way that Bobo912 did, that you were saying they were offering the cash card for "when you book", which is different than what they "typically" did. Costco has offered these cash card incentives for a few years, so it sounded like you were announcing a change in policy.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks, Sayhello. That's exactly what I thought. Sorry, Tracie, I misinterpreted what you were saying. Wishful thinking, I guess. :)

Yep, We booked our Italy trip through Costco. We should get $1700 worth of Costco gift cards when we return from our trip. I couldn't find a better deal.:thumbsup2

Just wondering if the Executive Card gives any better deal? The Disney trips look so high in price, esp the US ones and the fact that air isn't included. I don't know we went cross country for a month, spent time in many national parks and spent no where near the cost of the one week trips doing this. Just wondering what is different/special about them. I am really curious, I'm not trying to cause an issue about this. Thanks!

There are already a few threads discussing this and what it is we all see in ABD that makes them worth the money to us. To keep from hijacking this thread, why don't you check out this other thread:

Executive card doesn't make a difference. I have one and I've booked both ABD's that we've taken through Costco. Not only is the cash card not affected by Executive Membership this is also stated on the Costco website:

Travel purchases are not included in the Executive Membership 2% Reward program.

Sayhello, Costco has 3 levels of membership - basic (which they call Goldstar), Executive, and Business. The executive membership gives a bigger rebate on purchases (2% vs. 1% with the basic membership) and some other additional discounts. Regular membership is $50. Executive membership is $100. I don't know if they do this all the time, but when I upgraded my membership afew years ago they said if I didn't earn the additional $50 back in rewards, they would refund the extra $50 in membership fees, but I've never had that problem. I shop at Costco a lot!

Thanks! I knew about no 2% rebate, but was wondering if it was one of the further discounted items. Have a nice day!

Costs $100 but has a 2% payback each year on most purchases (not travel for example). It's worth it to us, we got back 110 for the 10 months (1st year they cut off the accumulated earnings about 2 months prior to renewal date. Susequent years it will be a full 12 months) so it paid for the entire membership. I would think anything over 50 is worth the executive membership since a regular membership is 50 anyway.

We did have some very large purchases, swingset, emergency food, couch, treadmill to name a few. Costco does refund the difference in cost if you do not feel it worth it though!

That sounds like a really nice program, and it's very cool that they refund the difference if you don't make it up in rebates. Sounds like a no-lose situation!

I always thought the Costco cash cards were a great incentive, if you shop at Costco. Especially since you are, actually, booking directly through ABD.

I don't know what the exact calculation is, but both times our cash card has been around 5% of the trip cost.

Thanks and that is per room right? If we booked 2 rooms, 2 cards? thank you

Also, I assume what you buy with the gift card, goes toward the 2% rewards?

We only need one room, so don't know from personal experience, but the website says it's per room, so I believe you are correct about receiving 2 cards. I think whatever you buy with the cash card would go toward the 2%, but I usually end up using most of mine for gas and you don't get the 2% rebate on gas anyway, so I haven't really noticed.

Yes they are. That's good to know about booking as well.

Thanks! We just opened the Amex connected with Costco as well. Some of those rewards aren't bad; 2% for travel and gas is 3% everything else is just 1% but something extra and no fee as long as the costco card is up to date (they make sure they charge it directly!)
