ABD 2010: Disers Go West - Let the Fun Begin

The 3-hour time adjustment this direction hasn't affected me nearly as much as the one to California did. Of course, today is my first day back at work. We'll see how I feel tonight. :)

My non-DISing husband, Phillip, told me to tell everyone how much he enjoyed getting to know everybody that we didn't already know. He especially enjoyed getting to know Kevin and John, since we ended up sharing several meals at their table. In his words, "All of the pod-people are really great." :rotfl:

We are headed to the Disney Family Museum today and home tomorrow.

We don't get home until 11:30 EST, so I'm guessing it will be The Land of the Living Zombies at the Klose-Magi Estate on Friday.

I'm getting the suitcases in order for tomorrow's departure. Do all of you have 1000 pieces of paper stuffed in any available crevice or do we just have that hoarding disease?

Off for more Walt.... more later,

Pete called me anal retentive when he saw my paper holder come out at the Soda Fountains (I wanted to keep the menu) :rotfl2:

Glad you and John are enjoying a much deserved vacation - have a wonderful time at the museum today. :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

Is anyone else from the East Coast having trouble adjusting to the change in time? I've had a rough two days getting by body back to EST.

Your not alone Kathy! I can't fall asleep until the wee hours and during the day at work I find my head hitting the desk a couple of times. Being so busy and staying up late last week has a lot to do with it too I'm sure.

Did everyone that went to the Jimmy Kimmel taping get to see the show on TV? We all actually made it on national television for a couple of seconds as they panned the crowd at the beginning of the show. They got our front and back as we were on 2 different shots. Our 2.3 seconds of fame was over in a hurry. :lmao:

Sorry to be quoting myself :), but I found our episode online. :cool1: We make our appearance at the beginning when Jimmy is announced. Check it out but make sure not to blink. :rotfl2:

We are having trouble too. Yesterday was especially rough as we did not get home until after midnight. Today has been much better.

I am having some trouble adjusting to the time differance as well.

Jenn thanks for the link, but once again sucks being in Canada as the video is only available in the US. :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I know I was caught with a Hannah Montana poster in my hand (for DD7), but this is taking it a bit too far. :lmao:

Phillip is my favorite non-pod person. :lovestruc

Karen, I am a paper saver also. I think the only menu I did not have was the one from the Roosevelt Hotel. That was laminated and glued to a rather large "board" that would have been missed if taken.

For the record, I was glad I shipped a number of purchases home early. My suitcase was reaching the 50lb mark when I checked in on Monday. It would have been over, big time with what I bought btw MOG and Club 33. What is it about dirty cloths weighing more?

When we checked in our suitcases at the airport, I discovered we only had about 37 lbs in each one. I could have done 26lbs more shopping!!!

I am tired - constantly

I think not being on the Adventure is what has me worn out.
My body seems to be rebelling against "work". I'm afraid if I lean back in my desk chair I'll fall asleep

Suitcases were 50 & 47.5 lbs - when they weighed them at LAX :scared1: . I didn't even weigh the box that I had shipped from the resort.

Little by little - life is getting back to normal - of course getting the work load caught up seems next to impossible. I was only away from the office for 6 days - how can I be 10+ days behind :confused3

Still trying to get the pictures uploaded to Photobucket - hopefully I'll have the last groups done this evening.

I didn't get the menu from the first night either ---- anyone take a picture of it?

This is the first moment that I have been able to read all the posts since being home.

First off, Lauren & Jeri and Micki & John, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Second, although I don't have the time to go into detail (I am at work) but I can not tell you all enough how wonderful it was to have met you all. When reading your posts, I can now see your faces and hear your voices. It is so cool!
I know that we all have the "trip of a lifetime" phrase in our heads. I don't need to explain it to any of you. No matter what words I use to describe the trip to my family and friends, they will never understand just how special this trip really was. I think it is pretty incredible to think that in the whole world, we are the only ones that really "know". Thank you for allowing me to share a part of your history. You all will always hold an amazingly special place in my heart and memories.

Lastly, I am at my desk at work. Not Disneyland. This is just not magical...

I wish I'd taken better (some!) notes. I'm trying to put together exactly what we did on which day so I can a) write a trip report, b) do a scrapbook. It's kind of all a blur - especially the free time in the evenings. :headache:

It was GREAT spending time with you and getting to know you Alissa! We had so much fun that night that you, Kathy, Lauren, Jeri, Phillip and I used our Fast Passes all over Disneyland after the parade!

Lauren and Jeri - so sorry to read about your Grandmothers passing - we will keep you all in our prayers.
Lynn - Glad you weren't hurt - items can be replaced, nice people like you can't.
Glad that everyone is doing well - tired or still on vacation ( I'm jealous ! ) but all well.
John and Kevin - glad to hear you're having fun...hope you have a safe trip back to Reality !!

I think that we are more exhausted-tired today then yesterday, John's mom came through the surgery, however she is in ICU on a vent, the next few days are critical for her.

Is anyone besides me getting Flash Backs!!:worried: - every once in a while I get a Flash Back - at one moment in time - I'm seeing the Dopey Drive sign post then it's gone and later I'm seeing all of us posing for a picture on the steps of the Kodak Theater ! They kinda pop in and out of my mind ! I've been on many trips before - but this is the first time I'm getting Flash Backs !! At least the're ALL GOOD Flash Backs !...Micki

Well we wound up not shipping anything home as they wanted over $200. to ship to Canada. They also wanted to affix my visa # to the shipping doc. so anyone could see that information.
Needless to say the suitcases were pretty heavy! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
John's weighed in at 49.4 lbs.
Mine weighed in at 44.2 lbs.
2 carryons weighing over 25lbs. (opps) :lmao::lmao:
2 personal items weighing about 20-25lbs. each! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
But we got it all home! :yay::yay::yay:

We didn't end up shipping things home either, Katherine. We used the collapsible duffle bag that ABD had given us and one of the backpacks as "extra" carryons (our personal items:rotfl:) and packed all of the valuable "loot" from the trip in those. This did cause some problems at LAX though when they couldn't figure out my pins and decided I needed to be "patted down." :lmao:

It's killing me, but I'm going to wait until I see everyone else's pictures (and the ones from ABD) before I put together our album. I usually do this within a week or two so I don't forget what we did and when we did it. That's why I just forced myself to at least document what happened each day.

For Lauren's reference (since you asked earlier in the thread) I have figured out that your Big Thunder Mountain Railroad layout happened on the evening of Tour Day Four (Thursday 4/15) after we had watched the parade from the special viewing area and you, Jeri, Alissa, Kathy, Phillip and I set out to use up our Fast Passes.

(My mind is swimming from trying to recreate everything that happened.)

This is exactly why I write trip reports during our trip. Old age is creeping in for me and trying to remember specific details of a trip can be difficult. :headache:
